Emmie's P.O.V

I cupped my face in my hands, overwhelmed with a massive headache. I would usually get small headaches that would only last for a few minutes, but this time the pain would not go away. It would slowly increase as time passed until it felt like my head was being hit continuously by a metal baseball bat. My eyes were becoming itchy, I tried to rub them, blink really fast, but nothing worked. The itchiness in my eyes soon became unbearable, so unbearable, it felt like my eyes were on fire.

I got up from my bed in a hurry and rushed to the door, "HELP, PLEASE HELP, I CANT SEE!!!" I screeched while banging on the door. Tears started to run down my face, "Help......I-I n-need help," I began to plead, praying that someone outside of my room would hear me. I continued to sob leaning against the wall to support my weight, my legs gave out, leaving me kneeling on the floor, crying, and in pain.

When the pain in both my head and eyes decreased slightly and the tears stopped flowing.

I heard a small voice, "Hello? Um...are you okay?" The voice asked sounding almost afraid to speak. For a second I thought I was going crazy, that was until the voice spoke again.

"Uh hi......I heard crying coming from here, are you alright?" the voice said, I quickly crawled over to where the voice was coming from, a vent.

"Hello?" I finally replied, "Hi, did something happen to you, are you okay?" the voice asked me once again with a rather feminine voice.

"I'm fine now, uh what is your number?" I asked her tired of calling her 'the voice'.

"021, my name's Dylan, what's yours?"

"022, my name is Emmie," I replied feeling better knowing that I wasn't completely alone.

We continued to talk until we had nothing else left to share.

"I was wondering since there is a vent connected to both our rooms on this side, is there another vent on the other side of your room?" she asked out of the blue. I crawled to the other side of the room, afraid to stand due to dizziness, and pushed my bed away from the wall. There was another vent. I knelt down close to the vent and whispered, without a second thought.

"Hello?"

It was dead silent, once again I said 'hello' only this time louder. I heard shuffling coming from the other side, it became quiet again, only to be interrupted by a soft-spoken 'hey' coming from the vent.

I asked her for her name and number, "023. I think my name is Giana. That's what the voices call me," she responded.

"What voices?" I asked wondering if she was the only one in her room.

"You can't hear them. They say, that only I can hear them," she said sounding like what she just said was completely normal.

"Okay then, um bye Giana. I'll talk to you later," I told her realizing that isolation did a number on her.

I crawled from the vent to get a book that was on the other side of the room, then crawled over to my bed. I used the side of my bed to pull myself up from off the ground. Suddenly my vision goes grey. I can see through my book and through the walls and floor. I look at my arms and see my bones! Next, there's a bang on my door. I quickly lay down and pretend to be asleep. I hear one of the nurses enter the room. If I'm asleep, they won't knock me out. I feel myself being picked up and moved onto a gurney. Somehow I can see through my eyelids. now that I mention it, some of the nurses have discussed experimenting with x ray vision on me. I see two other girls being taken out of their rooms by the same nurse. One has short blonde hair and the other long dark brown hair. Seeing as there was only one nurse there, I took the opportunity to find out what's happening. But as soon as I got up from the gurney, the nurse tried to attack me with a needle. I'm done for. Suddenly the girl with the blonde hair took the nurse's arm and pushed him onto the ground.

"Thanks. Why did you help me? Who are you?"

"Well it's me, Dylan, and I'm kind of in the same situation as you," as soon as she finished talking, the nurse tried to stand up but wings sprouted from the girl's back and hit the nurses head.

Dylan and I stood there in shock over the huge white and speckled grey wings that sprouted from her back. Even though the nurse was hit with those giant wings, he refused to stand down. Except for this time. He lost the needle. He tried to walk towards us with constant wobbling, only to be forcefully turned around and have his arms pinned to his sides by the brown-haired girl, who I I'm assumed was Giana.

"Dude calm down! There is no reason to attack anyone," Giana said trying to make him relax. He began to struggle so Giana tightened her grip. A low animalistic growl was heard from her as smoke surrounded her hands. She tightened her grip more, the nurse started to cry in pain. I looked at Giana, a mix of emotions painted her face. When the smoke cleared, we were all shocked to see her nails like bear claws and the nurse bleeding out, the light in his eyes fading fast. Giana quickly let go of him, her nails returning to normal, as she stumbled back away from the dead body, falling onto her knees. She stared at her hands that were covered in the nurse's blood.

"Why, why did this have to happen? I didn't want to hurt him," she whispered loud enough for us to hear. Dylan slowly approached her, knelt down by her side and embraced her in a hug.

"It's not your fault," she whispered, "you just wanted him to calm down. You didn't know that would happen," she told Giana, letting her cry on her shoulder to ease her mind after the events that took place.
