"I would just like to say how proud we are of all of you,"
"Thanks, Mom."
"But I also can't stress how much I'm going to miss you." tears welled up in her eyes.
Connor walked over to his mother and gave her a hug, "I'll be fine, we'll all be fine," he gestured towards the other teens there.
The six of them had graduated a couple months ago and couldn't wait for the journey college would take them on. Their parents decided to throw them a going away party at the Murphy's house. The backyard was decorated with streamers and balloons and the pool lights had just turned on as the sun was setting. After all of their parents spoke to the small crowd the partying continued. Now, Zoe and Evan were chatting while sitting on the edge of the pool, the parents sat on the balcony chatting as well, and Alana was at the food table.
Connor swam up to the edge of the pool, "Guess what?"
Y/N arched her brows, "What?"
He motioned for her to lean closer, "Jared may have gotten into the booze."
"You may just be right," both looking over saw Jared acting extra flirty with a group of girls.
"Guess what else?"
"What?"
He pulled her into the pool with one swift movement. She quickly came up for air.
"Oh my god, you are such a jerk!" yelling while laughing a little.
"Whatever, you liked it."
"No, I didn't,"
Connor smirked, "Oh really, why are you smiling then?"
"Screw you," she splashed him.
"How dare you!" feigning offense while splashing back
"Don't make me pull your hair!" she lunged towards him.
The two kept splashing which turned into a water war with pushing and tugging. Screams of laughter filled the backyard as their friends giggled at the sight. The playful fight soon died down as they caught their breath, staring into each other's eyes. They were so close together that they could hear their breathing.
"Ummm," she awkwardly tried to avoid eye contact yet couldn't stop staring.
"Hey, I've actually wanted to say this for a while but..."
"Yes?"
"I think I'm in-" Connor couldn't finish his thought because of the 'interruption'.
"Cowabunga!!!!" Jared yelled as he splashed between the two.
~Later~
"Hey guys, look what Jared and I found,"
"Yeah, all the alcohols,"
Alana quickly ran to catch him before he stumbled down the steps, "Okay, you've probably had enough."
"Nooo," It was quiet for a second, "what were we talking about? Let's watch Bojack!"
"As long as you don't throw up," Zoe demanded as she switched to Netflix on the tv, "I don't want to explain to my parents why you got sick in our basement."
"Yeah, Dad will have a cow," Connor snarked while plopping down on the couch.
Each of them grabbed a beer and relaxed.
