Will and I had decided to go to the yearly Halloween fair for the night. Percy and Annabeth had decided to tag along, as well as Travis and Katie. It was about a 15 minute drive from Camp, past the Lotus Casino, and around the corner from Sally Jackson's house.
When we arrived, Will and I stepped out, and he looked up at all the intertwining rollercoasters, and – my favourite – the Haunted House. Gods, the mortals have no idea how real those things were. Neither did the other demigods, but I decided to keep that to myself, and so had Hazel when she came along last year. Hehe.
Will smiled in awe up at everything, and I smiled at him being happy when I thought he wasn't looking. But I was wrong. He looked down at me and smiled even bigger and goofier than usual and I felt my cheeks warm up.
Percy got out behind us and nudged me ~suggestively~. I blushed harder and punched him in the arm hard enough that Annabeth couldn't catch him when he went down (swingin').
Will kissed my forehead and helped Percy up.
After Travis and Katie were ready to go, and the rest of us had stopped laughing, we walked up to the entry and bought our tickets for the rides and other stuff. I was jumping around like a little kid and Will wanted to check everything out. Percy was pestering a blushing Annabeth and Travis was feigning fear so Katie would hold his hand (I'm pretty sure she knew he was faking).
"Can we go on that? Or that one? No, that one!" Will was saying frantically, and I would keep telling him we would, even though I had no intention of being so high off the ground.
After a while, it started getting dark, and we had been on maybe 15 different smaller rollercoasters and gotten a half-cooked dinner from the food stalls. We were getting toward the bigger ones that Will had wanted to go on earlier, but the Haunted House was right around the corner.
"We have to go!" I squealed.
"Yeah, seems cool. I'll go. What about you guys?" Percy asked.
"Sure. I haven't been in one before," Will said, to which my jaw dropped.
"You haven't? Like, not even when you were a little kid?" I stared.
"Nope. Never," he said like it was a good thing. "But hey, at least this time you can be the first person i go in one with?" he phrased it as a question, like asking for permission. I blushed again at that. Oh, we were definitely going in there now.
"Okay. It's settled. Sunshine Boy can see a fake Haunted House for the fist time. We're goin' in!" Travis yelled, sprinting to the door.
Katie laughed and Annabeth shook her head when Percy followed, screaming 'BLUE PANCAKES' for some miraculous reason.
I waited for the girls to walk in after them, and Will took that as a sign for him to wait with me. He looked nervous, even though Travis had called it fake. Which wasn't true. There were some bad spirits, but they seemed to be sick of kids coming through to harm anyone, and the other ones seemed young and polite, just wanting to have a good time. From what I could sense, anyway. I could be wrong.
"Are you okay, Will?" I asked him. He was looking up with determination on his face, but he looked downright terrified. I took his hand, which seemed to comfort him, because he looked down at me again and said, "With you in there with me? Yeah. Just fine."
I smiled and looked at my feet stupidly. He lifted my chin and gripped my hand tighter. "Are there actual ghosts in there, Ghost King?" he asked. He was the only person who still called me that. At Camp Half-Blood, anyway. I guess I seemed happier since we started going out.
