Chapter 1
New York
"Emily hurry the fuck up!"
"You know I could not go to the party and then you would be stuck with Katie" I said back to my "best friend" Christine.
She took my right hand and went down on both knees pleading " I'm so so so so sooooo sorry. I beg you not to leave me alone with the the mega bitch."
I laughed as I raised her up from the ground and pulled her out the door.
We crawled into the back of my town car and started to giggle and laugh about boys or boobs I can never really remember the small things. Our innocent teenager laughter was interrupted by a snore and I then realized that we weren't moving. I peaked through the partition to find Sal, my driver, passed out in the drivers seat.
I cleared my throat but he just kept snoring away. I did it louder until I was practically screaming with my mouth closed.
"SAL!" Christine screamed.
Sal woke up suddenly and started moving around spastically trying to figure out where he was and I guess it didn't help when he turned to see my face wide-eyed with my tongue out.
Sal let out a startling scream and me and Christine let out a laugh.
"Goddamn Emily are you trying to give me heart attack?" He sort of screamed at me as he fixed his black driver's hat (yes my driver wore a hat).
"Oh god no Sal." I said doing my innocent face "I mean if you were dead who would drive me around." I said barely getting my last two words out between the laughter.
"HA. HA. HA. You get funnier by the minute Em." Sal said clapping his hands in between each 'HA'. "Are we going to pick up Miss Katie?"
Me and Christine both let out a "Ughhhhh"
"Sadly yes we are." Christine moaned as Sal put the car in gear.
"I really don't understand why you girls don't like her. She very sweet and bright. She's like a 8.3 out of 10 looks wise and her parents are very respectable people"
Sal was always trying to make me into a better person. Once we hired him he sort of became my second dad. I was with him twice as much as my real father and Sal treated me 10 times better. He was about my fathers age maybe a little bit older (he had more grey hair). He had a daughter but she died very young from a rare cancer so he always said that he looked after me like a daughter which was good because I looked up to him like a father.
"Sal. Oh dearest Sal." Christine said while tweeting about how excited she was for the night "If Hitler and Paris Hilton reproduced the offspring would be Katie. She's so judgmental and talks about everyone behind their backs, but if she knew what everyone said about her behind her back she would probably never come out of her room again. And two days ago she wore last years Tori Burch flats to school."
Sal turned around as we pulled up to a red light "Okay, even I know that wearing last seasons Tori Burch flats is social suicide ( I had taught him the term). Try to be nice please. What goes around comes around."
"Fine, but live up to your own words the next time you make us stop so you can buy and pig out on a dozen donuts." I said poking his double chin.
We all laughed at that one.
8 minutes later we arrived on 6th and 3rd and Sal (quite easily actually) found a spot in front of Katie's apartment building. The whole building was for the middle class but the pent house, where Katie lived, was 3.3 million. Although I'm not to fond of Katie her house had some kick ass views.
We waited for 3 minutes until Katie came out. The three of us in the car gasped!
" Oh my God" Sal exclaimed.
" What on Earth was she thinking!" Christina moaned rolling her eyes.
" My eyes are buuurrrnnnnedddd!!" I groaned clawing at my face.
Katie was know for her beautiful long brown hair so let's just says that everyone was shocked when she walked out with a beach blonde pikie cut.
"Act natural" I said to my two car companions.
Katie entered the car with the biggest smile ever and she had so much confidence you could practically smell it.
" Ohh my God Katie I looovvveeeee the new look." Christina said.
I would believe Christina too if we hadn't talked about the new do before Katie got in the car. Christiana is the best liar I know she once got us out of trespassing on an exclusive park at 2 A.M., but she has a huge give that I only know about. Overt the years of having her as my best friend I eventually figured it out. Every time Christiana lied her pointer finger and middle finger on her right hand went together. A little weird I know but it happened all the time. In simple white lies, lying to her parents even when we play cards.
"OMG YAAASSS" I untruthfully exclaimed.
We drove for 15 more minutes until we arrived at Jason's house. Jason was the star of every sport at our school, student body president, super hot and just so happened to be my boyfriend......at the time.
The girls started to scoot out through the left back door and right before I left the car Sal called back to me.
" Em?" I fixed myself and looked at him. It was just me and him in the car now. "Are her shoes in season?"
I chuckled and started to exit the car I stood out on the sidewalk and looked at Sal.
"No."
Then I shut the door.
