Haunted Strings

Chapter 5

-Elaine's P.O.V-

WARNING! Mature content ahead.

"You went against my rules Elaine." The man smirked as he held the hair of my mother holding her head up.

"No please! I'll obey I promise it won't happen again!" I begged as I was being held back by a strong wolf man. Tears forming in my eyes as I looked at my mother who was already bleeding and she had a bruised lip.

"Elaine darlings, it's okay. You must live Elaine, and live the best you can." My mother spoke to me softly.

The man growl as he pulled my mother's head up higher. "For you disobeying me Elaine there is a price to pay."

I knew what he means and it was killing me not to get over to my mother. Struggling to get out of the grips of the man that was holding me back. Tears falling down my face as I looked at my mother.

"Please, I'll obey I won't disobey again please don't do this!" I begged ones more as tears fell.

"Sorry dear Elaine but a punishment must be mad." He said as he then slit my mother's throat before letting her head go. Letting her limb body fall to the ground.

"NO!" I screamed with tears I my eyes as I looked up, he was heading towards my younger sibling. Grabbing his arm as he went to use the knife again.

My younger brother looked at me with fear in his eyes as I tried to get out of the man's grips. "No stop, please stop!"

He man started to life my brother head up as he then went to put the knife to his throat. "Say goodbye Elaine."

"No!" I cried watching him slit my brothers throat as I saw his body fall to the ground.

"No next time you won't disobey me." The man said as he started to clean off the dagger the was cover in blood.

Lowering my head as tears streamed down my face before I felt a hand under my chin. I looked up into his golden-brown eyes he smirked at me. "Next time, I won't be so kind to the next person."

Jolting awake as I breathed heavily tears falling down my face as I felt sweat on my forehead. Trying get my heart beat to calm down as I swing my legs off the bed. Placing them on the carpet getting up as I make my way to the bathroom. Splashing some cold water on my face as I tired off the sweat and tear. Turning off the bathroom light I went back to my bed looking over at the clock, it read 3 am.

Letting out a shaky breath as I knew that dream hadn't come in so very long. And I was hoping it would never come again. But then again it wasn't just a dream, but a memory. Waking away from my bed as I went over towards the closet to pick out some cloths I could run in.

Sure, it was 3 am in the morning but who said you can't go for a run this early in the morning. Pulling on a sports bra with a tank-top and some leggings as I put some shoes one. Sure, it wasn't the right clothing for this weather since it was almost winter. But not caring I just threw something one that would be comfortable for a run.

Opening the door to one of the campus buildings. I was lucky to not have a roommate and she wouldn't be asking me questions why I was up so early. Closing the door behind me as I quickly made my way do the hall way. Exiting the building as I saw the forest ahead, I couldn't have been happier to see a forest in my whole life. Making my way across the street as I started to sprint into a long run through the forest.

Stopping a few miles away from the campus I pulled off my cloths shifting into my wolf. She wanted to go for a run to clear both our heads as she started to sprint faster and faster. Wanting to get away from as many people as possible. Looking around as Evelyn looked up towards the moon her eyes dancing with the happiness. I let her take full control as I wanted to just curl up and try to not think about the dream memory.

Suddenly stopping as I looked ahead and went back into control still in my wolf form. I looked around I could sense that there was someone or something nearby. But what? At this early in the morning something had to be lurking in the shadows.

Elaine I can feel that we are not alone this morning. Evelyn said as she looked around as well.

My blue eyes looking around as I could see nothing but then a wolf appeared out of the shadows. Seeing the fur of the wolf it was white with a tent of yellow in it. My wolf didn't know what to do, either run away or towards the other wolf. My wolf pet was of red, black and white as my blue eyes looked at the other wolf.

MATE! The other wolf said to me through mind link. I quivered and shook at the thought. No no no this can't be happening this wolf can't be my mate. I shook my head and took one last look at the wolf before turning around and running.

Evelyn we need to leave, we need to get out of this town! I said to her but she didn't rely back. Instead she tired her hardest not to make me go back to the strange wolf.

I didn't know what was going on with Evelyn but something told me that wasn't the last time we would see that wolf. Shifting back to my human self as I changed back into my clothing before running towards the college dorms. Breathing heavily as I looked back to see that wolf again stopping as I looked at the wolf. Tears almost filled my eyes, the scent of the wolf was of a forest and it was a calming scent.

"Go away!" I shouted but the wolf just looked at me and as it whimpered softly as if trying to get me to come back to him and stay. But I shook my head and turning around running back towards the dorms. Putting my hands over my head as I tried to block out whatever the other wolf was trying to say to me.

Elaine...that was our mate. What are we going to do? We can't run from him forever. He will find us again.

I know I know. But we need to stay calm I can't disobey again. If I do, he will kill Allie. I can't let whoever is close to me die again on my watch.

Finally getting back to my room as I panted heavily not knowing what to do. Closing my eyes as I slide down the door putting my legs to my chest. Hugging them tightly barring my face in them as I just cry. Not wanting this to happen all over again. Not wanting the nightmares to come back, all I can hope and try is that my mate will stay far away from me. That is my hope and I will reject him if I have to.
