It takes a lighter to spark a flame between two people. But, even simple flames burst out of control. Will they last forever? Or will it all end up a simple memory in the past?
Umbrosia had just turned 20 and she didn't know what to do.
It almost felt the same since she turned 18, except she received gifts and cake.
"What are you doing for your birthday?" Umbrosia snapped out of her daze as she looked at Fayth, her best friend.
"Honestly, there's nothing to do." her voice was low, but Fayth was still able to hear her.
"Yeah, nope. That's not what we're doing this year. We're going to do something for you." she looked to the side at Asaad, another best friend of hers.
"Like what? I'm nineteen this year. What is there to do other than drinking our sorrows away?" "you just need to get laid."
Umbrosia jumps to smack him but is stopped by Fayth.
"men shouldn't have to be one of the many sources that I have in my life. If anything, they're the reason I would end up in jail or depressed."
The two friends couldn't say a word, knowing she was right.
Umbrosia wasn't the easiest person to date.
Maybe it's because that her standards are high.
Or maybe it's because she doesn't trust anybody out of her circle.
Hell, it might have been both.
"whatever, I'm going to sleep." Asaad spoke, laying down and pulling the blanket on top of him.
Fayth sits next to Umbrosia and they looked at each other.
"you are right. Men shouldn't be a source of happiness. But, there's nothing wrong with wanting a good one in your life."
Fayth rubs her shoulder and laid in her spot.
Umbrosia sighed and does the same, laying on her pillow.
"good night, guys." "good ni-" Fayth was interrupted by Asaad and his snoring, earning a laugh from both women.
Umbrosia thought about what Fayth had said and had agreed with it.
' a good man in my life would be nice to have.'
"But, will they last? I've been through so much pain throughout these few years of living. Who would want a broken person?"
She mumbled to herself, eyes filling with hot tears.
She let out a harsh breath before going to sleep.
