Monic sighed at the sight that laid before her. Limp waves filled to the brim with plastic pushed past her feet in slow currents. While the the morning air was once crisp and fresh, now sat stale and polluted. The ocean was dieing.
The blistering heat caved in around her and life as she once knew it was gone. Gone was the ocean of fish. Gone was the wet soil. Gone was its blue surface, and gone was the last of the humans.
They came, destroyed, and left. No animals or plants were left, and only death remained.
She had been strong, but not even she could withstand the forces of nature. More waves of heat settled and crashed down from above. She looked up into the sky as the last of the clean water evaporated. One single tear slid down her cheek, the last drop of water.
