"You have given me your heart, your soul, your very being...but I cannot accept it..." I took a step away and felt a thorn prick my leg. "For my heart, my soul, my very being belongs to another." I took a look back at him. Tears pricked at his eyes as they cast themselves to the ground. "And although I will never has his, it is wrong of me to accept yours, knowing I cannot give you mine." I turned my head to look away from him, unable to see his tears any longer. "So please, forgive me, for I cannot give you what you most desire." We stood there in silence, mourning the loss of our once seemingly unbreakable bond. Tears stung my eyes as I felt the distance suddenly become real between us. Not knowing how to close it, I left the field just as the sun disappeared over the horizon.
