He was walking up the dirt road outside town, headed back to the guild hall after a successful quest.
Libra was exhausted, he had been gone for two weeks on this quest. He had been tasked by his guild with tracking and eliminating a bandit troupe. It had been a bit more than he had bargained for, but the village that hired him paid him fairly.
The walk was peaceful, with a bare minimum of noise surrounding him.
There wasn't a cloud in sight, as well as the mountain a small while away to the east.
He was in his dark brown cloak with his messy long hair and scruffy short beard to match it. A plain cotton shirt and pants underneath, visible by the open cloak. His tanned and worn out leather boots patting down on the dirt below as he kept moving.
A smile lit up on his face as the city of Estellan appeared not far up the road. As he was striding down the path, he could see his friend Gyros waving at him from the giant guild hall.
"Gyros. Still just sticking around the nearby and low risk jobs, eh?" Libra bellowed across the road with his loud, deep voice.
"You know me, pal. Just trying to live a simple life."
They met up a few feet from the guild halls entrance, grabbing each other by the wrists and going in for the friendly hug.
Gyros was considerably smaller than Libra. Sporting ginger hair, as well as a black cloak over his simple tunic. He looked very young for his age.
The townspeople walked on by, following their daily duties. Paying no heed to the two adventurers reuniting.
"Why even call yourself an adventurer then? If all you do is plunder a nearby cave for a bear or do some hunting for the villagers." Libra told his friend as they released each other.
"Well, somebody needs to prove to the village that we're willing to take any work and help any way we can." Gyros shrugged as the duo started climbing the steps to the main door of the guild hall.
"So tell me Libra, how was your latest journey? Did you end up finding anything in that ruin?"
"I'm afraid not, old friend. I do however have to speak with the master. By any chance would you know if he's here?" Libra paused outside the front door and turned towards his friend.
"Hell if I know. You know better than anyone that he's always running around."
Tension built up as Libra rubbed his chin.
"Well maybe we should check it out then?" Libra smirked and Gyros flashed a grin as well.
"You know what to do." Gyros grabbed the door handle and pushed the door open. Inside was a tavern by the looks of it, but this was really the main lobby of their guild.
The duo walked on in past a group of friends drinking and laughing, one of them sprawled out on the floor with a spilled mug of ale. Despite being capable adventurers, all the men and women in the guild hall seemed like drunkards.
A short, Black haired man whose most notable feature was not only the matching tunic and gloves, but his dark red war paint, leaving a wide stripe across his very noticeably blue eyes. walked over to Libra and Gyros with open arms.
"Well I'll be. If it ain't the famous Libra! And of course his little runt of a pal, Gyros"
"Thank you, for the confidence, Rodrik." Gyros said sarcastically.
"How have you been lad?" Rodrik said as he gestured his hand towards Libra, smile still fresh on his face.
"As you could probably tell. I have been quite the busy man. By any chance have you seen Master Capricorn around? I must speak with him." He told Rodrik with an urgent tone.
Rodrik recognized the serious look and nodded. He gestured for them to follow him and he discreetly made his way up the staircase to the side of the lobby. The group walked down a narrow and candlelit hallway until they hit the large door at the end.
Libra stood in front of it, grabbing it by the handle and peered back at his two friends.
"You two should stay here. Of course you could always just go. I am more than likely going to be a while."
Gyros sighed and planted his hands on his hips. "If you insist..." He said with a disappointed tone before turning and walking back from where they came.
Rodrik followed Gyros and so that left Libra alone in the quiet hallway. He glanced at the door handle before pulling it upwards and bringing the door open.
The interior was a room composed of fine furniture, worthy of a guild master. Behind a neatly crafted wooden desk was a chair turned towards the large stained glass window behind it, peering into the city beyond.
"Master." Libra spoke up and bowed.
"Come, come. You should know by now I don't care for that whole royal treatment riff raff." The master turned his chair to face Libra.
He was a kind looking, elderly man. He was evidently once capable in strength and almost certainly still is for someone with a grey moustache and near baldness. He was in the commonly known guild master attire; a white robe with gold trimmings.
"Tell me boy, how was your quest? Did they have anything to do with what we discussed?" The master had said with a foreboding tone.
"I'm afraid it did, Mas- I mean, Capricorn."
He dug his hand into the side of his cloak and rummaged around for a quick second before pulling out an ancient looking tome, bound in leather and very dusty.
He handed it over to Capricorn who began to evaluate it.
"So documentation does exist? There are still records of the old God's, hmm..."
He went through a long train of thought, getting up from his desk and pacing around the office before stopping in front of the fireplace. Libra gasped in shock as the old man tossed it into the fire.
"You didn't tell anyone about this finding, did you?" Capricorn asked him seriously, staring directly into Libras eyes with almost a deathly gaze.
"No, of course not!"
"Good. It's best left lost to the ages, I'm glad you still agree on that." Capricorn sighed and walked over to his fellow and patted him on the back.
"If anything else comes up, please let me know, friend." He went to the desk and sat down.
Libra nodded and there was a short moment of silence between the two.
"You may leave." Capricorn told him.
Libra walked back to the door and left the room, closing the lumbering thing behind him and re-entered the noisy lobby. Gyros and Rodrik waiting at the bottom for him.
"Took ya long enough. What went on in there? A brawl?" Gyros said annoyingly.
"Yer too damn nosy, ya know that? If you really must know, it just went the same way it usually goes. I bring back nothing and the geezer hounds me."
"Ya, ya, whatever lads. How bout we go over to the tavern? Beers on me!" Rodrik directed them to the door.
The three walked side by side through the exit and down the road, laughing and goofing around the whole way. Through all this however, Capricorns words echoed in Libras mind.
