Chapter 2
Loki could only hear ringing, he tried to move, but he could only hear muffled clattering as pieces of brick fell off of him. He groaned as he tried to push himself up, but his arm buckled on his weights and he dropped back down on his face. He laid still for a moment, his head was still ringing, his vision was slightly blurred, though it was so dark it wouldn't have made a difference even if he could see clearly. he tried to move again but pain ran up his right leg. He summoned all his strength and forced himself up on his right elbow, his left arm hung limply from his shoulder, he couldn't move it and he assumed it had become dislocated.
He turned his head enough to see what was causing the pain in his leg; there was a thick rod penetrating through his thigh, and a chunk of a wall had imbedded itself Into his shin. As he gained more awareness the pain got worse. He knew the bones in that leg were broken, probably shattered from the blast. There was no way he could walk, even just holding himself up like this was exhausting. But then he knew he had no choice but to make himself move.
Suddenly the darkness was broken by a stream of bright colors. Loki knew that ray all to well.
"No... no..." he clawed at the ground with his good arm and dragged himself across the rubble, swallowing screams of pain as his destroyed leg was pulled over shards of brick and glass and hot metals. He didn't care what pain he was in, he knew that ray of light was the bifrost. He knew thor was coming to take him back to Asgard.
Thor and his group of soldiers landed on Nidavellir, they were expecting to storm in on a raging battle, but instead they landed in the midst of deadly silence. There was not a living thing in sight, bodies littered the ground, and the star that once lit up the realm had gone dark.
"What's happened?" One of his soldiers asked. Thor looked around, it was hard to see in the darkness, but he was hoping that among the dead he would find Loki, preferably still breathing.
"Loki happened... search everywhere. If Loki is here I want him found." Thor said. Most of the soldiers started searching, but a few of them didn't.
"What's the problem?" Thor asked.
"Your highness, I know Loki is your brother but...." they looked around at the dead bodies. If this was Loki's fault, he'd killed an entire realm of dwarves.
"You want to kill him?" Thor asked bluntly.
"Don't you think that would be the best-" Thor didn't let him finish.
"Heimdall send these soldiers back to Asgard, they're no longer useful to me" thor said to the sky. The light from the bifrost opened up over the questioning soldiers and they were sent back.
"Thor! Over here!" Thor heard fandral call him so he went to where he and a smaller group was. There wasn't anything there but a trail of blood.
"The blood is fresh. Someone is alive and on the move. It's Loki" Fandral said. Thor felt like this was too easy, it was too good to be real.
"This could be anyone" Thor told him. All they had was a trail of blood, he doesn't know if it's Loki or not.
"We came down right over there" Fandral pointed to where the bifrost originally opened "this person would've seen the light, but they went the other direction. Whoever this is is injured, and avoiding the only possibility of help. Who would do that except the one person who would avoid going to Asgard at all costs? This can only be Loki" Fandral said.
"Well he's bleeding and injured, he can't have gone far. Gather everyone, we need to find him" Thor said with a new sense of urgency. He'd come close before but Loki always escaped, he wouldn't be able to stand it if he got this close and then had Loki escape him again.
Loki dragged himself over piles of rubble, trying to get away from Thor and his group. He kept pulling himself along the ground but he didn't know how much longer he could keep this up. He was losing a lot of blood, he was getting dizzy, and he was only able to drag himself along with one arm which was getting shaky and weak.
"Loki!" Loki could hear Fandral calling him. His hearing was fuzzy but he knew they were close. He frantically tried to pull himself along faster, he wouldn't let them take him back to Asgard, he was determined to stay out of Thor's captivity.
"Loki! We know you're here, just turn yourself in" Fandral called out again. Loki wanted to murder him, but all he could do was pull himself along faster. He looked behind him and could see Thor's men, they were close, they'd see him soon. he could also see the very obvious trail of blood he was leaving, he knew he only had one option left.
After they found the blood trail it didn't take long to find Loki at the end of it. Fandral saw Loki ahead, laying flat on the ground, he was bleeding excessively through his leg, he was either unconscious or dead, and he had clearly blacked out in the midst of trying to escape.
"Check to see if he's alive, I'll find Thor and tell him we've got him" fandral ordered. One of the soldiers got down and turned Loki over on his back. He had a massive gash in his forehead, his arm was clearly ripped out of its socket, he was badly burned, and then there was the obvious issue of there being a pipe protruding from his thigh and a piece of wall imbedded in his shin.
"If he's alive he'll need medical attention, and fast. Tell Heimdall to have a medical team ready" one of the soldiers said as he got down to check for a pulse.
"He's alive, tell Thor to-" he never got to finish, Loki was suddenly awake and instantly ripped his dagger out of his belt, slicing it at the soldier who was checking on him.
"He's up!" One Of them shouted as they all rushed in to keep him down. Loki threw a couple daggers at some of the soldiers, foolishly trying to escape. By now he had pulled himself up more and was ready and willing to murder every one of them.
"Call Thor!" One of them screamed, as her and another soldiers grabbed Loki's arm to stop him from using any more weapons. The soldier grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back, shoving him back down on his face and throwing her weight on top of him so he couldn't get up again.
"If you try to escape you'll end up dead!" She warned trying to stop him from getting up, though he was struggling.
"Empty threats" he hissed back "I know Thor has you all under orders not to kill me" he added.
"I won't, but blood loss will" she pointed out. His leg was still spilling blood, and by now he was in extreme need of medical attention. She knew Loki's strength, she shouldn't be able to hold him down like this. He was weak right now.
"You way over estimate my desire to live" he shoved his elbow into her stomach and she rolled off of him. It was a pointless victory though, three more men were on him immediately, kicking him back down and wrenching both his arms behind him to bind his hands. He felt a jolt of pain when they forced his injured arm behind his back, but they didn't seem to care much.
"Stop trying to fight Loki, it's over. We're taking you to Thor" Fandral said, coming over to pull him to his feet. Loki groaned in anger and pain when they forced him to stand on all his broken bones.
"None of us like him right now, but thor wants him alive. Help him get to the bifrost site, he can't walk on his own" Fandral ordered the soldiers. Two of them grabbed Loki's arms to keep him upright, but they didn't try to make sure he wasn't in pain. He deserved whatever pain he was feeling, he'd killed everyone on Nidavellir.
Loki walked cooperatively with them for a minute, then made a sudden move to try and escape again, but he was still too weak and they were all ready to catch him. He got free for about half a second and then they grabbed him again, more firmly this time.
"Loki, please, I'm begging you to stop" Fandral said in annoyance when Loki tried to get away. "I can't kill you but I will do everything short of that to keep you here.
You're already injured and bleeding out, and you know perfectly well that you can't escape. So just stop" he snapped. Loki looked like he wanted to kill Fandral, probably because he did. Fandral knew that if Loki had an ounce more strength he would have killed every one of them. But he didn't have that strength so he just stood there looking like a rage-filled bloody mess.
"Thor. We got him" Fandral said when they reached Thor, who had been searching for survivors with no luck.
When Loki saw Thor he started struggling again, fandral gabbed him firmly and forced him over to Thor.
Thor looked at him for a minute, he had been trying to find him for so long but he never really planes out what he would do once he found him. He hated seeing his little brother like this; angry, bitter, burned, injured almost to death.
"Loki..... what have you done to yourself? and what am I going to do with you?" He said with a sigh, looking over Loki. He was pale and Thor could see his limbs shaking,  he was covered in dust and blood, and the anger and hatred was written all over his face. it Pained Thor to see how messed up Loki had become, how obviously deep his rage was rooted.
"Why don't you execute me and do us all a favor. I'd rather die than go back to Asgard" Loki growled through gritted teeth, glaring death at his brother.
Thor reached out and put a hand on Loki's shoulder.
"Loki.... you aren't getting off that easy" Thor said, then stood back. And faced Fandral "there were no other survivors. They all either escaped or died. let's get him home. Heimdall" Thor looked up and the sky opened up. Loki tried one last time to escape captivity, but it amounted to nothing. The bifrost opened and they were all sent to Asgard. Thor didn't know what to do, he had loki back under control, but he didn't know how long he could keep him there.
