For as long as I can remember, things have been scary in the house I live in. Even back when we lived in Melbourne, even though it was only 2 weeks ago. It wasn't scary because of how it looked, not like some reck of a house but because of the people who lived in it. 4 people under one roof can definitely be dramatic. Let's start of with dad.
He is a project manager and owned two farms in Oz, a salad farm and cattle farm (but only 7% of it) and a fish farm in a small country Rwanda that most of you have most probably never heard of. Well let's just say it's small, located on a lake and is in central Africa near Kenya and so on, we've never actually visited thinking about it.
Well when he was younger he was a total dork and yea I guess he still is and sometimes people even called him a wimp, which I can understand because he could never stand up for himself. Anyway he was moved around a lot as a child but was actually half German, half South African. So that was a clash but he only moved to Oz after he met my mom while working on a mine in South Africa so yea.
Oh yea i forgot to mentiom and then there's my my mom. To be honest I cant remember a day in Oz where they we're fighting well more like mom screaming at my dad, maybe it's because she has it in her blood but honestly I don't know anymore.
My mom was born in England but moved to Australia after she met her first husband and up until then was a very good catholic girl, strong and willing which I got from her until like I said she met my dad. She started to fool around with him until she actually noticed that she wanted this more than her other husband, and she had to make a hard decision there. Keep to her believes or follow love and I'm guessing you guys know which one she chose.
Anyway after my mom and dad got married they moved away from familiar ground and moved to the other side of the country and yea that's where she fell pregnant with me but quite late actually at the age of 40.
Her parents I have to say weren't supportive after the whole divorce and remarriage and since then they were toxic together, maybe that's why I only ever saw my grand parents alone. But back to the point they fought every evening for what felt like years but I only really noticed it when I was 7 so now it's been about 9 years that I've lost countless nights of sleep because of their fighting.
From what I could hear it was about how my mom was tired and unwilling to live in Melbourne anymore but my father was never really emotionally secure so it was hard and that caused the fights.
Then there was my brother, who's 5 years younger than me but we used to be close until I don't know what happened. The fighting really affected him and many nights where we both couldn't handle it anymore, we'd come and hide in a corner under my double bed and cry. I always tried to protect him because he was such a good kid. Straight A's even though we had a hard situation at home. I was truly proud of him but as he grew older we just kept on drifting apart.
We both had our own ways of coping but mostly we decided it would be better if we had other activities, sleep overs or do at least something else so we wouldn't have to be hurt time and time again.
I have absolutely no idea what Finn did, maybe he just sat at his friends house, played with lego and pretended to be storm troopers but who knows.
Me well at first I would hang out with my mates. But I was a real Tom Boy and like 80% of my friends were actually guys but hey there's nothing wrong with that. Well actually I had a small group of friends at school till like 4th grade where I "grew up". There I only truly had one best friend Phillip who I did everything with. Well actually we were both huge animal and nature freaks and we thought and strongly even believed that one day we'd become explores. I mean we used to go into the outback which was part of his garden and find bugs, spiders and then take pictures of them and learn about them.
I was mainly in charge of photography because I was better even his mom who played a big role in my life agreed that I was.
I think possibly the best thing we found was a diamond python which actually was constricting a chicken of Phillip's. The best moment and I even remember his reaction like it was yesterday. He was so interested at the snake that he completely ignored the fact that it was constricting his favorite chicken Donald. Dumb name for a chicken I know right. But yea that pretty well summed up my life till grade 4.
Afterwards I pretty well screwed up my life. I made a friend at scouts because my mom forced me to go and it wasn't even that bad, it at least got me out of the home. This guy though was actually called Jackson and at first it was odd because he always looked depressed but he was the sweetest. I had also noticed he was a lot older than me like 3 years but I was desperate for a person to have fun with and that's what happened. But actually it was all scary for me and more fun for him at the beginning. So after meeting a few times at scouts he decided I'd come along one Friday night and he'd show me what real fun was. I was only just 13. I still remember the evening. Crystal clear.
We left around 21:15 I think and drove all the way to this abandoned house and I followed him even though it scared the crap out of me but he just kept on reassuring me and even though we hadn't known each other that long, he treated me like no other, and for once I wasn't looked at like the kid who was a nature freak and that's mainly the reason I went with him but also maybe because he had promised me that things were going to change from then on. And I believed him because purely that's all that I wanted.
My mom had warned me about not hanging out with older guys but for me it was more important that I was happier and that morning we had fought so I seriously didn't give a crap about what she said.
I remember walking around the corner of the building to find a fire with many people around it, bean bags and many other things to sit on. It was cool because it looked like they were trying to do the chubby bunny challenge, which no one in my class had managed but they looked like they could. All of a sudden Jackson took my hand, looked and me and said "I know we may be older but that don't matter and promise me if you dont like it just tell me and I'll drive you home ok" and we walked over towards them with my slightly terrified look. They noticed us when the one spat out the marshmallows in his mouth to scream out to Jackson. I laughed and everyone else turned around to see me behind Jackson. They were all in leather or denim jackets and looked like they were stoned. Jackson had explained to me the other day why they always looked different. There was also a chick along them, Jade, who was snuggled up next to a guy who I later met, Matthew.
"So guys, " Jackson started of as he sat down on a huge bean bag and patted down next to him for me to sit there " This is Elektra and please don't be complete asses to her, like you were with Jade ok?!" he said as I sat down next to him. I was wearing black jeans and a grey shirt with roses I'd had sown on because I loved roses on anything, just praying to god it was half decent to be accepted.
On my left was Jackson and had this girl next to me on my right . The group laughed, smiled and all introduced themselves, until the questions like where I went to school and how I knew Jackson ,who they only called J so I guess I'd have to call him this then, rolled in.
"So, " the guy from across the fire started ,sitting up, he looked like he was a biker and he was I could see because there were bikes parked behind him, nice ones too. "how old are you? I mean you're a stunner but damn you look young?" he asked and J stopped him immediately "man Jakin, what the hell leave her alone....." until I broke him off. "No no, it's fine Jackson, I'm not that much of a kid, I can answer myself." and everyone laughed as I smirked at Jackson. "If you say so" he added putting an arm around my shoulder and then Jade interrupting "ooh the kid's got spice, good choice J!" . His hands were warm but so big but we all laughed at how I was taking over. I started again " Jakin right?"
"Yea" he said quite surprised. "I'm 13, don't even worry about asking questions, just go ahead, Jackson's just getting a bit protective" I say looking over at him winking. Everyone joined in laughing which I hoped was a good sign. Jakin sat up and looked at J "Damn, she needs to become a permanent but holy moly " he says looking back over at me " I'm guessing this is your first time hanging out with people like us?"

Mom calls me down for dinner, I know she's tryna get better after the whole move thing but I'm actually just pissed at both of them for moving. Even though this means I get to explore more, it means I've left everything behind, my home and my friends and everything I've ever known.
I running down the stairs and I walk into the kitchen " What's for dinner?" I ask with a blunt tone.
It's pretty messy in there but then again it's only our 5th day in the house and we unpack very slowly.
"Lasanga" dad says walking in from the living room with ovengloves in his hand. I take one good look at him and snicker." what? " he asks.
" oh not that important but since when do you cook?" I ask walking over to the fridge and pulling out a carton of grape juice pouring it into a glass.
"Thought I'd do something nice for the family" he says picking up the hot lasanga and carrying it into the living room. I follow him, rolling my eyes, I am so not in the mood for a family dinner right now......
