"Fine...do you mind if we use one of your guest rooms tonight?" Anya asked, pulling her skirt down.
"Let's go, we're going to be late for English," I sighed, closing my locker and walking down the hallway. English class was one of my favorites, Mr. Buren was one of the only amazing teachers at this school. Although there was a waiting list ten miles long to get into his class, most of which were girls, seeing as Mr. Buren was rather handsome. He was a bit old for me, being twenty-seven, but to me he was just a teacher, nothing more, nothing less.
"I believe I owe you a happy birthday," Mr. Buren caught me on my way into class, smiling. Of course, with five minutes left before the bell rang, I was the first in class.
"Well thank you, Mr. Buren," I smiled back, walking to take my seat in the back of the classroom.
"Ah wait...I've got something for you," Mr. Buren caught my wrist before walking back to his desk and bringing a wrapped present back, a violet frosted cupcake sat in a container on top of the gift.
"You didn't have to really...but thank you so much," I smiled setting my things down and tearing the paper off,
"Wow..." I breathed once my eyes caught sight of what lay in front of me. A limited edition Sherlock Holmes...the classic. Reading was one of my many outlets in my life, when life became a struggle, I would climb into my tree house with a book and escape into another world, one where problems and struggles of mine were non-existant.
"Mr. Buren...thank you so much for this, it's so wonderful," I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling.
"Of course and c'mon Aurora...you're seventeen. Please, call me Matt," he smiled, squeezing my hand once before making his way to the door to greet the incoming students.

"Oh c'mon A...we all know he has a thing for you," Anya rolled her eyes, laying across the bleachers as I watched Axel dive for a pass.
"Matt doesn't have a thing for me, he's a nice man is all," I replied, tracing my fingers over the book before setting it into my bag.
"Matt...first name basis then? Listen, he's only twenty seven and...he's probably heard about your virginity, the rules don't state that teachers couldn't play as well." she sighed.
"Well...whatever, Matt is just a teacher," I replied before standing and walking over to the fence, smiling as Axel waved over.
"I'll tell you A...your brother is one fine looking specimen," she winked and I laughed along with her,
"Axel is not to be toyed with Anya...he's my brother and he's a good guy," I replied, she nodded once before turning back to face the field. It wasn't that I didn't trust my friends around Axel, it's that he was my brother, and he had been hurt in the past by a girl who only wanted to use him as part of a game, he fell in love with her and she crushed his heart. I couldn't bear to see my brother go through the same thing twice. He nearly died the first time, took his car out into oncoming traffic and collided head first with a truck.
"Oh fuck! Did you see that?!" Anya shook my from my trance and pointed to where Axel lay on the field, un-moving. Before another word could be spoken I rushed onto the field, ignoring the protests of the coaches and players, I took Axel's hand in my own.
"Aurora...what are you doing out here?" he asked, one of the coaches removing his helmet.
"Is he going to be ok?" I asked frantically, tears threatening to spill out of my eyes.
