[Lauren's POV]

"Do we really have to go, Laf?" I asked with a sigh. "You know I hate game nights." I tore my brush through my tangled hair, wincing. Laf grunted in disapproval. I put my hair up into a ponytail.

"Come on, mon ami! You never go out with me and Mulligan anymore!" Laf threw his hands down in exasperation, leaning against my door.

"That's because you guys started dating, and you said you 'wanted privacy'." I said. Turning to him, I groaned at his pleading expression. I walked over to my bed, flopping down on it.

"Please!?" He cried.

"No. I don't want to."

His face went blank, and then a slow smile creeped onto his face. He practically pranced over to my bed, sitting down on it.

"Alex is going to be there~" He purred into my ear. I sat bolt upright, wiping my ear on my shoulder. I felt heat rising up my neck.

I had liked Alex since I first met him, in 10th grade. He had always acknowledged me and helped me with my math. (Honestly, how and why does math even exist, other than a reason to talk to your crush!?) He had mentioned that we were friends a few times, but other than that he always looked at me weird and didn't talk much.

"I- why would I even care, Laf? Besides, how did you guys manage to get him out of the Library?" I asked, now fidgeting with the hem of my shirt.

"Because, you fancy him. Also, It's a Friday and Mulligan promised pizza."

My face was now hot. I hit him with a pillow.

"No I don't!"

"Ha ha. Yeah right. Now get up already. We're leaving." He stood, then opened my door, walking out.

I sighed again in defeat, then grabbed my bag and hurried out after him.

We arrived at Mulligan and Alex's dorm. I brushed a stray piece of hair out of my face. Laf opened the door, walking in casually. I stepped inside, scanning my surroundings beforehand. No sign of Alex.

I shuffled in my spot, then walked over to the couch, taking a seat. I set my bag on my lap, opening it. I grabbed out my book.

The Princess Bride was an amazing story. Apparently it was a 'woman's story', because it involved romance. BS, I say. Romance and Love isn't something that should or can be gendered. And, it was a cool story.

I crossed my legs, leaning into the squishy sofa. I began to read. Buttercup and Westly were scouring the Fire Swamp, and Westly was about to be attacked (Spoiler Alert) I took short breaths through my nose, smiling.

"Yo, John. We're gonna get the food ready, Aye?" Asked Mulligan. I nodded dreamily, muttering a quick 'yeah'.

I continued to scan through the pages, The words engulfing me and drowning out any other noises. Sadly, this comes with pros and cons. Pros, you don't get distracted and hear any outside noises. Cons, you don't get distracted and hear any outside noises.

"John?"

I snapped my head up, with a glare. It immediately softened as I realized it was Alex. He stood there in all of his glory. He clutched a laptop and a few books at his side. His hair was done messily in a ponytail. He looked down at me, his expression weird.

"I said, is Laf here yet?"

I was bolstered out of my trance, then I straightened. I cleared my throat, closing my book.

"Yeah, he's in the kitchen making food with Mulligan."

"Oh. Alright." He said. He set down his stuff on the table in front of me. He sat down on the other side of the couch, then glanced over to me. His eyes brightened.
