"Pooichi...." Iruma muttered, bringing her hand up to bite into her thumb, sweat dripping down her neck.
The inventor had no idea how to approach this situation. Though, her usual method was to ram into it and go with the flow and win, she suddenly found herself hesitating to initiate conversation. [Name] would usually back her up and at least try to defend Iruma for a little bit, but now, Iruma was completely alone and clueless, which differed from her partner currently.
[Name] looked at peace, like she found all her answers once Shuuichi came along.
It sickened the idiotic innovator.
Iruma has lost track of the time a long time ago, but taking from these past few days, [Name]'s memories still haven't came back yet.
That's good.
Iruma wouldn't know how to explain herself if [Name] found out what happened in the academy.
That brought up the question: "Was [Name] still alive when the machine hurt her?"
From the blue eyed girl's perspective, it looked like an instant death, a hard hit to the head if that's how you'd like to describe it.
Though remembering it may bring her despair, Iruma would like to think that [Name] didn't feel a single thing when the accident occurred. Imagining that kept Iruma slightly sane.
Key word: Slightly.
Without [Name], she would've found herself completely lost in insanity. That's why she can't lose her beloved one here. Not now.
She's worked too hard to get this far. Everyone that was acquaintances with Iruma before always eventually left her, maybe that's why she found herself insulting people to drive them away.
She was scared of being hurt again.
...
No. Don't think about that. That's not what we should be focusing on. We'll discuss this at a better time.
The main objective is more important than the side quest.
Taking a deep breath, she made eye contact with the detective, fearing his cold, hard gaze on her dirty yet skinny self, but she didn't let it show. She decided she needed to be independent this time. She will take control in this situation and steer it into the right path.
There was no going back now.
"Hey, pooichi! You're still wearing that pervy little hat of yours, huh?" Iruma sneered, knowing that even mentioning Saihara's hat would be enough to tick him off and gain his full attention.
She was correct.
Saihara gently placed [Name]'s body on the grass and slowly but surely got up, moving away from the girl before cleaning off any dirt that may have gotten on him when he was sitting, then, he turned around.
His glare pierced right through Iruma's body.
Was the hat comment a little too much? It was just one insult.
"Kyahahahaha.... why are you looking at me like that..?" Iruma's confident persona completely flew out the window and she found herself absolutely petrified. "Y-You wouldn't... hit a cute girl... would you..? T-T-That's..."
Each second that flew by ate her up inside, and soon enough she found herself yearning to throw up, but admitting defeat was probably what he wanted to see from her.
She wouldn't let him have the satisfaction of keeping [Name]. Never.
"You just being here irritates me so fucking much! I'm about to go ape shit if you don't leave us alone!" Iruma growled, pulling on her messy hair. "Our time in that shitty academy isn't relevant at all now that I'm out! You were just a stupid, fucking scaredy cat that didn't know how to be anything without Kaeidiot's help!"
She was going too far. Way too far. But she couldn't stop herself. Everything that had built up inside her was now spilling out, and she didn't know how to stop it.
She finally snapped.
"Maybe you didn't expose me because I was a genius inventor who wanted to save the world with my inventions. Maybe you didn't expose me because you really are just chicken shit! Who fucking knows?! All I know is [Name] is back and now I'm able to keep her to myself without you and that little grape shit getting in the way!" Iruma found herself in front of Saihara, yelling everything right in his face. "I'm an intelligent inventor that can practically do anything, so don't run over my fucking parade. I never wanted the invention in the academy to lose con–..."
She paused, her grip on her hair strands loosening.
Where was she going with this?
What was yelling going to accomplish right now?
...
Nothing.
...
Saihara cleared his throat.
"Are you... um.. done?" He asked timidly. "We can really discuss this without arguing loud–"
A kick was thrown right at his stomach and soon his chest. A hand roughly grabbed the collar of his shirt and threw him on the ground.
Seeing him like this made Iruma excited in more ways than one.
She kneeled besides his body, grabbing a hammer she had brought with her.
Using her left hand to wrap it around his neck, she tightened her grip and rose her other that held the weapon.
"[Name] doesn't even remember you, so she won't feel jack shit if she sees your corpse the moment she wakes up." Iruma grinned. "This is where your story ends, shitty detective."
