Moving On

Leaving that small town hurt more than I could have thought possible. I never guessed the thing that hit the hardest was saying goodbye to Adam. I knew I could never be with him forever, so I shouldn't make myself try, but I couldn't just leave him behind. He knew about the strings and I had to know how and why he came to me. I decided to go back to the coffee shop to talk to him one last time. I needed to know what he knows. He said he's been able to see them his while life, but never knew what they were until he was about 13 years old. He still has never told anyone but me, and usually tries to not intervene in people's lives. He is determined however, to change his string's fate. He thinks  if he falls for someone that his string isn't connected to, he can still be with them forever. He knew as soon as he met me that he wanted to try this with me, and somehow he knew that I could see the strings. He didn't know how but he could just sense it. I was so shocked at the thought of defying my string and being with Adam. I was curious obviously, he was someone I wanted to be with. I was also terrified. I knew the strings were unbreakable, and I can see them for a reason.  I didn't want to just forget Adam, though. I told him I could never be with him, that I want to find my soulmate. We agreed to stay in touch through text just in case I did change my mind. I guess we'll have to see.
