I wake up to my phone vibrating. I see a text from Shane.

"Hey, wanna go to the park?"

I think back to the previous day.

"No more hanging out with him. Or I will exterminate you."

I sigh and text him back. "I can't. Busy." I lay my phone onto my nightstand and look at the time. 6 o'clock. I close my eyes and bury my head into my pillow.

"Brrrrrrrrrrrr," my phone vibrates.

I cover my ears and close my eyes even tighter.

"Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr."

I groan and pick up my phone. I enter the messaging app.

"Why?"

"Emmy?"

"Emmy?!"

"Sorry," I text back, "I'm busy."

I hesitantly click "send."

Forget the truth! Lisa would kill me!

I hear a knock on my door.

"Honey, Shane's here. Can I send him up?" My mom nearly yells.

I sigh. "Go ahead!"

My heartbeat races with every step I hear. He can't find out!

I feel like melting when I see him walk in the room with gorgeous straightened hair. He stares at me with those kind green-gray eyes.

"Hey. Wanna go to the park with me?"

"Uhh, no. I'm sort of busy."

He looks at me confused. "Really? Your mom said you were free."

I shake my head and say quickly, "Nope. Busy as a bee! Bye!"

He holds make back as I try to push him to the door. "What's going on, Emmy?"

"Nothing," I mutter. I look down as my phone vibrates. A text from... Lisa. "Bitch, I heard he's over your house. Stay the fuck away!"

As he tries to grab my phone, I hide it behind my back.

"Emmy, give me the damn phone," he nearly whispers.

I shake my head. "No."

"Emmy."

"No."

He pushes me back onto my bed and holds me down. He swipes the phone from me. "Passcode."

I shake my head. "Never."

He sighs and enters a few digits. He smiles. "Really? 1988?"

I blush a little.

He reads my phone and gasps. "How long as she been being a bitch to you?"

"W-What do you mean?"

"Emmy, you know exactly what I mean!"

I take a deep breath in. "Since yesterday. Your mom walked in on us, too, and we nearly tore each other apart."

He leans in and.....

Kisses me.

"Emmy," he says, "Forget about her. Let's just go to the park." As he heads toward the door, I speak up. "You know, she said some things yesterday about you two."

He turns around. "Like?"

I shake my head.

He looks down to the ground then heads out the door.

I should've followed him.

But I didn't.
