The next morning I woke and my door had been unlocked, and when I crept down the hall to the living room I saw my parents sitting with the man in blue, and they were talking about something. Except the man wasn't wearing blue anymore.

He was wearing one of my dads grey t-shirts and some jeans. Now I could see he had blond hair; it was under his helmet before.

He kept glancing at the man on the floor, who was now out of his black uniform and dressed in similar clothing to the blonde man, except with a long sleeve shirt and gloves.

My mom saw me coming and waved me over, pulling me onto her lap, while my dad moved his chair closer to the man on the floor. The blonde man smiled at me.

"You must be Manda?" I nodded. "I'm Steve" He introduced himself. Then all of a sudden the man on the floor shuddered as he was beginning to wake up.

Steve jumped up to get closer to him and my mom pulled me away into the kitchen and shut the door.

"Momma, who is the man on the floor?" We started to hear yelling and frantic muttering, then a crash. She pulled me closer to her.

"He's a friend of Steve's. He was hurt and needs help, but he's dangerous. You have to be careful, okay?" I nodded.

There was a little more talking in the other room, then the door opened to reveal Steve standing there.

"He should be fine. He's just confused and scared, and that made him lash out." He glanced at me. "And Manda shouldn't be around him alone, for the time being, just in case." He smiled at me. "Sara, could you come out here for a moment?"

She stepped out with him and shut the door. I tried to listen but I couldn't hear much. After a few minutes, the door opened again.

It was Steve, and he was alone. He motioned for me to sit at the table and sat next to me facing me.

"Manda, do you know who the man in the living room is?"

I nodded. "He's your friend."

"Right. His name is Bucky. He... well, its hard to explain, but he doesn't remember very much, he barely remembers me. The problem is he might start to get angry, and if he gets mad around you he might hurt you. I just don't want that to happen. So, the rule is, you have to be with me or your parents if you have to go anywhere near him alright?"

"Okay." He smiled.

"Can I meet him?" I blurted. His smile faltered.

"Uhh, hang on. Let me see, I'll be right back." And he left into the living room, coming back a minute later. "Alright, you can see him, but you have to stay with me. Come."

He waved me out. I followed him back into the living room to find the man called Bucky was sitting on the couch, tensed up, looking around frantically. He kept glancing at my parents, who were watching him from the other side of the room.

Steve walked forward slowly, me right beside him.

As soon as we came into view his eyes locked onto Steve, then glanced at me in confusion. His icy blue eyes were calculating; he was looking for any sign of attack.

The little girl in front of him didn't look dangerous, and that's what confused him. Steve stopped me a short distance away from him. He hadn't reacted so far, but that didn't mean he wouldn't.

He took an extra step in front of me and addressed him. He spoke slowly, as one might speak to a frightened child.

"Bucky?" He didn't react, he just kept staring at me. "Bucky this is Manda. She's Sara and Marcus's daughter."

Not that Bucky knew who they were, Steve just felt like he should say something.

When Bucky didn't shift his gaze, Steve looked at him curiously, then half turned to talk to my parents, keeping an eye on me. He asked them to leave and promised them he'd stay with me. He wanted to see what was going on because he'd never seen Bucky like this, and this was not the reaction he had planned for.

Closing the door, he came back to me. This time Bucky looked at him. Steve took a breath. "Do you mind if we sit down?" When Bucky shook his head, Steve motioned for me to sit on the other couch.

I sat down close to Bucky, making Bucky stiffen up and his breathing become quicker. His eyes never left me, and Steve jerked quickly towards me but stopped when he saw Bucky had made no move to attack me. Instead, he sat down next to me on my other side cautiously as I watched Bucky with as much curiosity in my eyes as there was fear in his.
