The Night Before The Day After

So there I was. Sitting wide awake typing away on Wattpad at 3:53 in the morning. Trying with no prevail to find an interesting story that was cliche enough to sedate me. With a deep sigh I finally shut down my laptop and calculated how many hours of sleep I'll catch before I have to go to work. With less than three hours of sleep within my range I try to silence my frenzied thoughts and go to sleep.

You can probably guess I didn't sleep.

Laying awake with bloodshot eyes, I stared at the ceiling continuously counting sheep in my head while wondering how I've be able to deal with all the boredom in my life. Just then a sharp, high-pitched shriek awoke me from my slumber. When did I doze off? I asked myself while rubbing my tired eyes. Dragging my tired, heavy legs I leisurely walked to the bathroom, What time is it?, I wondered as I brushed my teeth. Squinting I gaze into my room and read the clock. "OH SHIT I'M LATE!"

Suddenly with the speed of Flash I dressed in my Starbucks uniform and drew my winged eyeliner. (It isn't as easy as it seems) Within 20 mins I was out the door and into my car. Trying as hard as I could to put my key in the ignition, without realizing my strength I turned the key too hard and it broke. Just snapped in half. "Why must you forsake me car!" Screaming at no one in particular I got out and slammed my car door shut, storming over to the curb to summon a cab. Standing with my arm up; I get passed by more than 1,500 cabs. I'm exaggerating it was only like 4 but THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT. Then, finally, after three years of patience, a cab finally stopped for me. Opening the door, I slide into the cool A/C inside the taxi and politely thanked my chauffeur. After telling him the address of my workplace we were off. I slouch into the leather of the backseat trying to come up with an excuse that'll save me from the lecture I know is coming from my supervisor. Realizing no excuse will be enough to save me from the scorn I am doomed too,  a groan escapes me as I brace myself for unemployment.

"We're here ma'am." Those words caused my life to flash before my eyes.

"Huh? Oh. Thanks, How much is my fare?" I ask feeling my pockets for my wallet. Ok It's Not In My Front Pocket.. Maybe I slipped it into the back one? No? Don't tell me I forgot my wallet.

'"Your total will be $32.47"  Whoa, whoa, whoa. What?! 32 dollars?!

I laugh awkwardly and rub my arms "Umm. See I Can't Find My Wallet Right Now." I see his eyes shift and look at me in the rear view mirror. At the absolute wrong moment I notice how handsome my taxi driver is, I inwardly groan.

"Did you look for it?" His tone is sarcastic. I get the urge to say "No I Just Don't Feel Like Paying 32 Dollars to go to work and potentially getting fired" But I Don't

"Yes, I Looked For It. Ok Look, What's the number of this cab I'll call you after work and pa-" I'm cut off by his shushing.

"It's Ok. I'll let you off this time. You're dismissed" What? I'M DISMISSED? Who does he think he is. Yet strangely enough there I was leaving. His dark eyes from what I've seen in the rear view mirror are as dark and cold as night.

"T-Thanks." I open the door and step out onto the curb. As I watch the "cab" drive away I realize it wasn't a cab at all instead it was an yellow Aston Martin Vanquish. My mouth went dry as I just realized I could've been abducted. A shiver went down my spine. Would getting abducted be a good excuse to be late to work? Nah. I tried my hardest to try to open the front door without the jangle of those wind pipes. As I sneak inside I'm called out by my supervisor as soon as I try to hide behind the aprons. Shit. "Oh, Hey Emily " I Try my hardest to avoid looking at those burning pits of lava red eyes.

"Why are you so late?" She's tapping her foot in impatience

"Hmm? What was that?" I ask whilst slowly stepping behind the counter.

"WHY ARE YOU SO LATE!?" She shouts into my ear, busting the ear drum and causing it to bleed.

"Oh That. Heh. See what had happened was.. My car key broke in half in the ignition and I had to wait 4 years to find a cab but turned out it wasn't a cab at all it was actually an Aston Martin Vanquish and the guy who drove me here wasn't a chauffeur he must've been some type of pervert or something. I COULD'VE DIED!" Out of breath from speaking so fast I keep my eyes fastened on Emily. She was at a lost of words. She believed me?

"What color was the car?" She asked, I began to get suspicious as I noticed the disbelief in her face hadn't disappeared

"Um, Yellow. Why" I stepped closer to her. Was there a serial killer on the loose? It's not uncommon in Florida. I don't watch the news much so I wouldn't know. But serial killers aren't usually rich enough to afford a car like that..

"Violet, That is our new chain owner.." Her voice was shaking. Whoa the demon from hell is scared. This must truly be Satan. I smirk to myself.

"That's not very polite calling the man who stopped to help you get to work on time a pervert" I heard the same voice that 'dismissed' me earlier coming from behind me, I saw that Emily's shaking became worse. "Miss. Violet, Is It? I like my employees to look at me while I'm speaking to them." Suddenly I was shaking; internally of course. I slowly turned and faced my superior with my eyes facing the ground. "Once again Violet, I like to have my employees looking at me while I'm speaking to them, not the ground." His tone shifted to how a parent may speak to a child, making me feel like more of an inferior.. And angering me.

I shake off all the fear and hold out my hand to him. I don't even know his name. "Well, My sincere apoligies Mr. Pervert. I Shall Be Sure To Look Into The Eyes Of My Superior" I smile as counterfeit as I can and his grip tightens at the words 'Pervert'. He doesn't smile back, instead his dark eyes only seem to have gotten darker.

"You will refer to me as Mr. Anderson or lose your job" His response was clipped and cold. Gosh, can't take a joke? In an attempt to get him to lighten up I salute.

"Sir, Yes Sir." With that I walked off and started making coffee, I sure could use some considering the way my day's going
