KABANATA XXVII

Start from the beginning

                                              I understand her. But we need to calm down. We need to think.
                          "Let him talk. Go on." Sabi ko. 
                          "With Keith de Vera. Ayon po sa nakalap ko. Tinulungan ni Keith ibangon ang company ni Herrick."
                          Naglabas siya ng mga litrato. Litrato ni Herrick at Keith na magkasama sa airport.
                          "That man. Siya yung nakablind date ko sa HongKong last time. Kaya pala." Biglang sabi ni Jammy.
                          "Kaya pala?"
                          "Kaya pala kinukuha niya ang loob ng magulang ko. To invest in that useless company of that old man. Now it's all making sense." Nakatingin lang ako.
                          Nakikinig sa bawat detalyeng malalaman ko. Naghahanap ng butas para malusutan ni Pee ang problemang ito.
                          "Here. Listen to this."  Sabi nung detective.
                          Pinlay niya yung cellphone niya at hinintay namin kung ano man ang dapat pa naming malaman.
                          "I really love your daughter." Sinabi ng boses na nanggagaling sa cellphone.
                          It's Keith. I'm sure of it.
                          "Don't worry Son. My daughter, you will have her. I'll make sure of that." Boses naman ng isang tingin ko ay medyo matandang lalaki ang sumagot.
                          "That Herrick! Anong tingin niya kay Peach. Pag aari nya?! Pa son son pa siyang nalalaman. Plastik!" Galit na galit na sabi ni Jammy. 
                          I can't blame her. Kahit ako gusto ko na silang sapakin sa naririnig ko. I won't let them. Akin lang si Pee. Don't they ever lay their dirty hands with her.
                          "You'll marry her as soon as we arrive in the Philippines. Hindi siya pwedeng tumanggi. Kaya huwag kang mag alala. So don't forget our deal."
                          "Of course. Thanks Pa."
                          "Pa? Close na talaga sila ha? Kadiri! As if i'll let that crazy man take my Peach! And what deal?" Dagdag pa ni Jammy.
                          "Deal. That he will not let Herrick's property be gone. He'll support him. Everytime." Sagot nung detective.
                          Greed.
                          It drives people crazy.
                          It's sickening.
                          Nakakaawa ang mga taong nadadala sa mga bagay na tulad ng pera.
                          They're losing their minds.
                          And they want Peach to suffer.
                          Damn you two.
                          I won't let you.
                          "Alam mo ba kung saan dinala ni Herrick ang mama ni Pee. I mean Peach?" Tanong ko.
                          "Yes. Here's the address." Inabot ko yung papel na hawak nung Detective.
                          Hindi ko alam kung dapat ba akong matuwa o magalit when i saw the address.
                          "Bakit?" Sabi sakin ni Jammy nung mapansin niyang natulala ako.
                          "It's ours." 
                          "Yours?" Paglilinaw ni Jammy.
                          "Yeah. The house where Peach Mom's staying. It's my parents' house."
                          "Then. Our problem is solved! Go get her at your place." Sabi pa niya.
                          "No. Talk to you later." Sabi ko sa kanya.
                          Tumayo na ako at lumakad paalis sa restaurant na yun.
                          Why?
                          Why of all places kay mom and dad pa?
                          Ano na namang dahilan bakit sila kasama sa gulong ito?
                          I can't see them.
