Another day without sleep and another thought of him passed through his head. He regretted what had been said. It had been weeks and only small conversations had held the two boys together. Now he wondered if they'd ever be close again. He knew inside that whatever came of them would be his fault. That very thought kept him up most nights, but when he did sleep he would only dream of the other boy. "What might have happened if one little thing was different?" He thought aloud. He couldn't admit how he really felt but he also suspected people already knew. To him when he replayed his past actions it seemed obvious. Why does no one notice? It wasn't a mistake and he knew that. Then why is that what they agreed it was? He couldn't help but wonder what might have happened if he would've been up front about everything, why was he suddenly so scared? Life seemed to fall apart with their friendship. Without him in it life seemed sort of pointless. He heard paws scraping the hallway as they ran near his room. He figured any company even that of a dog might help him. He couldn't help but be angry at himself for saying anything at all. He knew something needed to change but "I don't like you like that" seemed to be the only thing he could think. He did like him like that. Why couldn't he admit it? Why had he said that. He couldn't quite find the answer.
