Soulmate AU
The Red String of Fate
-
"So, there's a red string on the pointer finger, of your dominant hand.
Tied with a neat little bow.
Don't worry, it means that you have a soulmate!
It's been with you since you were born, but it appears to your eyes when you first learn how to see.
Only you and your soulmate can see the string, nobody else can.
And everyone has a red string, you're not alone.
You cannot touch the string. It should be very long, and flowing in the air.
You are able to move the string, such as moving it up and down if you do that action with your hand.
One last thing, the string does not go away, even after you've found your soulmate. It will be with you until the day you die."
'Does not go away,'
'Even after you've found your soul mate.'
'Until the day you die.'
"Until I die! Seriously?!" Pidge threw the magazine on the floor of her room.
She had finally found something about this red string, to only find the information unacceptable.
Her parents had tried to explain it to her, but it couldn't get past her analytical brain.
Her brother, Matt, also attempted to help her understand, but he did poorly as well.
"What's wrong, Pidge?" Matt asked, and popped his head into her room.
The girl groaned. "That stupid magazine, that's what." She muttered.
He walked over, picking up the magazine. "'The Red String'?"
"Yep."
"It's six in the morning."
"Yep."
"You have school, Pidge."
"... shit."
She rushed to get ready.
Changing out of pajamas, brushing her teeth, eating that piece of buttered toast.
There was enough on her mind already.
That fact that a red string on her finger, symbolized the existence of a soulmate.
Was the tipping point of her distractions.
She couldn't believe it.
Katie "Pidge" Holt had a soulmate.
But the magazine didn't say anything about having a string that spilt into two.

"LANCEEEE!"
On the way to school, Lance McClain was sitting next to his best friend, Hunk Garrett.
"What? What? What's going on?" The boy rambled.
"You spaced out, that's what happened." Hunk replied. "Do you wanna some fa'apapa?"
Lance raised an eyebrow. "Fapapaya?"
"No no, fa'apapa. It's sweet coconut bread." The Samoan boy explained.
"Oh!" Lance exclaimed. "Yeah, I love coconut. If it's anything like the coconut bread pudding mi madre makes, it's bound to be good!"
Lance took some of the bread and began to nom.
He glanced at his hands, while he ate.
He too had the soulmate strings.
Everyone in the world does.
And that was something cool. It was cool to Lance anyway.
