Trinity stared at her sister while she spoke, but didn't hear a word that came out of her mouth. Absentmindedly, she whirled her straw around in her Long Island Ice Tea. Only to have the glass taken away from her
"Trin, would you snap out of it?" Elisha Copeland stated sighing loudly.
Trinity stared at her sister and rolled her eyes. She didn't want to hear the same conversation over again. She'd had it multiple times with each of her sisters. She propped her elbow on the table and rubbed her forehead slowly.
"It's been three weeks Trinity." Elisha spoke sitting the drink back down in front of her. "You need to let this go."
Trinity sighed. "It's not as easy as you think. I was with him for three years Lisha."
Her sister reached over and placed her hand on top of hers. "I know that, but he doesn't deserve all this thought. He doesn't deserve you putting your life on hold because of him. He's not worth it." Elisha paused and stared at her. "There is someone out there just for you. You just have to find him." She concluded squeezing her hand.
Trinity gave a small smile to her older sister. Picking up her glass she took a sip. She knew she was right, but she couldn't bring herself to forget. The only thing she ever seemed capable of doing was trying to figure out where they had gone downhill. What they could have done differently.
Pushing thoughts of Eric from her mind, Trinity tried to concentrate on her night out with her sister. The jazz club was relaxing and it was just what Trinity needed. To relax. She listened to the serene melody of the saxophone. Allowing it to lull all tension and stress from her body.
Trinity regretted going out with Elisha as she drug herself out of bed the next morning. Making her way into the bathroom she started the shower. As the steam filled the room she felt herself awaken slightly.
After her shower Trinity dressed in a pair of black slacks, with a peach cotton top, and a black vest. Slipping into a pair of peach flats she headed into the kitchen.
Starting her cappuccino machine, Trinity placed a bagel into the toaster before retrieving the cream cheese. Once her breakfast was finished and her travel mug was full, she grabbed her purse and keys before heading out of the door.
"Good morning, Trinity."
Trinity looked to her right to see Mr. Jenkins sitting on his porch. "Good morning, Mr. Jenkins." She responded with a smile and a wave. "How are you this morning?"
"I'm fine. You don't let those young ones run you today."
Trinity gave a small laugh as she opened her car door. "I'll do my best." She waved a goodbye as she slid into her car.
Like most Monday mornings traffic wasn't pretty. Trinity groaned in frustration as it crawled along. Her road rage didn't do so well in traffic.
With ten minutes to spare, Trinity pulled up to Tiny Tots. A daycare she owned and ran with her mother. Locking her car, she headed inside and was greeted by Stephanie, the receptionist.
"Good morning, Trinity."
"Hey Stephanie. Did you get all of the new schedules passed out?"
"Yes. Every teacher has one on their desk."
"Thanks." Trinity responded before heading into the recreation room, where all the children, except for the infants were settled until it was time to go to their classrooms. She found her mother sitting in a chair reading to a group of three year olds that had gathered around her.
Trinity leaned against one of the shelves sipping her cappuccino as the teachers came in to retrieve their classes. The last ones to go were her class of four year olds. Sitting her cup down, she clapped her hands in a rhythm which her class echoed.
