There was once a box
Filled with all the terrifying things in the world
Poverty, hunger, greed
All locked away to save the world from this misery
A small box holding the biggest horrors
You can't tell one not to open an item without an explanation
As they say
Curiosity is what killed the cat
A sweet girl
Pandora
She became the cat
All she wanted was a peek
She just wanted to know
If only she knew
One lift of the latch
One crack in the lid
The world is no longer protected
Every single horror escapes
Bringing the world to the brink of destruction
My love
I am Pandora
And all of these horrors are the terrifying emotions I keep locked away
Locked away in the box inside my head
Inside my soul
All of these emotions
Anger, sadness, pain
They remain hidden underneath the lid
Saving me from the excruciating darkness inside me
My love
You were my lid
You were my breaking point
I never meant for this to happen
I have become so good at self love
I just wanted to know
I wanted to know how it felt
For someone to love me
For you to love me
If only I knew
