Chapter One;

           “Ajax what’re you doing here?” Jenna asked lying down on the couch next to our cousin Violet, holding her hand. They were always like that, they were only a year apart but it didn’t matter, they were best friends.

                “Jenna where’s your sister? I need to ask her something.” Jaxs’ accent was slipping a little; he usually had it under control considering he’s been living in America for the past eighteen years. He was from Australia and moved here when he was four; we’ve been best friends for ten years now.

                “Sucking dick somewhere.” Jenna shrugged, Violet laughed as she always did with anything Jenna said, I walked out of my room and glared at Jenna who rolled her eyes. “You’re just mad because it’s true.”

                I looked at Jax who had a giant grin on his face. “What do you need?” I asked him, hoping he didn’t need me to leave my house. I didn’t want to leave; my bed was just so comfortable today.

                “I’ve started a band!” Violet looked at him like he was stupid but then smiled, “Who’s in it?”

                “Me obviously, my friend Ryan, my cousin Ivan, your old friend Kevin, that kid Nikolas from my program.” When Jax said his name my stomach flipped, I could tell Jenna rolled her eyes. I had been in love with Nikolas since the first week of module in freshman year. I thought he was the cutest person I had ever seen in my life. It was just my luck that he got a girlfriend soon after. In our junior year of high school, well that’s a different story.

                “Uh Layla? Will you be in or not?” Jax was waving a hand in front of my face. I shook my head and gave him a look. Jax knew how I felt about this stuff, not many people knew I played the piano and I really wanted to keep it that way. He looked desperate. “Please! It’ll be fun we’ll go cross country and everything.”

At this point Jenna jumped up. “Layla say yes! We can come too right Jax?” she looked so excited, I guess this means that I have to agree to it now.

“If you can get your sister to join then definitely.” He grinned at Jenna, knowing that she’d be forceful in changing my mind.

“I can come too right Jax?” Violet asked she was lying down on the couch still, holding her giant stuffed dog closer to her.

“Sure, bring Alina too. It’ll be fun, please Layla?” he pleaded a bit, his green eyes turned down making him look like a sad puppy.

“Fine.” I groaned. Time to pack, this is just great. “When do we leave?” Jax grinned and ran at me hugging me and squeezing me a little too hard. “Jax don’t kill me or you won’t have any one to play piano!”

“I owe you big time Layla! I promise you this will be the best summer of your life.” He ran towards Jenna and lifted her in the same, bone crushing hug he gave me. “I love you guys. Be ready by seven tomorrow.”

“In the morning?!” Violet asked dreadfully, she hated daytime, and the sun, and she hated moving. She was just really lazy.

“Yes in the morning! So pack fast.” He ran out of the apartment just as quickly as he entered it. I rolled my eyes and looked at Jenna who was grinning, her giant brown eyes crinkling a bit.

“Tell Alina to start packing, we’re gonna be gone for a long time.” I sighed and turned around. “Violet you better hurry and do not be late tomorrow.”

“We live in the same building idiot. If anything we’ll just go get her in the morning.” Jenna grabbed Violet’s hand and pulled her into her room, she was going to help her pack. I walked to my room and shut the door, leaning on it for a second. I really didn’t want to do this, especially not since Nikolas would be there after everything that happened with him I don’t know how I’d react to seeing him again. I dragged my feet and flopped onto my bed, I didn’t want to do this. I’m friends with Ryan and Jax –obviously- but I’ve never heard of Ivan, and Kevin and I stopped talking to each other years ago.
