Chapter 5

Connor

The look on Murph’s face when Alectra hugged him, I can’t explain it. “I’m sorry I wasn’t around,” Murphy whispered to the little girl in his arms as he stood up, holding her and walking over to Rachel, “but I’m not leaving. I’ll never leave again.” Rachel placed both her hands on Murphy’s cheeks while he was still holding his daughter, never thought I’d say something like that, and kissed him. I was happy for Murph, he had been so worried that she had moved on and that’s clearly not the case here. “I’m sorry I never told you Murph,” she whispered as she pulled back from the kiss. “Daddy will you read to me,” Alectra asked causing Murphy to look down suddenly at her, I could tell he needed to get used to hearing that.

“Go on,” Rachel said moving out from in front of Murphy, “we’ll be down here when you get through.” “I won’t be long,” Murphy said as he kissed her cheek then sat the little girl on her feet as she grabbed his hand, leading the way upstairs to where I’m sure her room was. “Connor I’m so happy to see you too,” Rachel said smiling over at me as she walked to me finally and hugged me, “sorry I didn’t greet you sooner.” “It’s ok Rach,” I said as I hugged her tightly, “ya needed to talk with Murph first. I understand completely.” She smiled up at me as she pulled out of the hug then looked over at Romeo who looked a little nervous after what she did.

“We weren’t properly introduced,” Rachel said smiling as she walked over to him and held out her hand, “I’m Rachel, you can call me Rach, the boys do. And sorry about the gun in your face, but it wasn’t loaded.” “Romeo,” he said holding his hand out cautiously to her. “Ya don’t have to be scared of her Romeo,” I said laughing as I walked over to them and placed my arm around Rachel, “she’s harmless unless you piss her off or take her away from Murphy. Then ya in deep shit.” “I do recall that was self-preservation too Connor,” she said looking over and up at me with a smile as she placed her hand back by her side.

“Alectra’s asleep now,” Murphy said finally walking back down from upstairs and over to us where he placed his arm around Rachel’s waist and pulled her closer to him, “she’s a beautiful little girl.” “She looks just like her father,” Rach said smiling up at Murph as he leaned down to kiss her. “Enough PDA already,” Romeo said as Rachel and Murphy pulled apart laughing. “Hey Connor will ya come with me for a bit,” Murphy asked looking up at me with a serious expression then down at Rachel, “I’ll be back I just wanna go take care of somethin’ real quick.” “Sure c’mon let’s go,” I said as Rachel reluctantly let go of Murphy and we left out of McGinty’s. “I’ll drive,” Murphy said as we walked to Romeo’s car, hope he won’t be mad that we taking it and leaving him here with Rachel.

hey I know this chapter is short but I thought that'd be a great stopping point to set up the next chapter...hmm wonder where Connor and Murphy are off too ;)
