“He kidnapped you?!” Ellie shrieked, making me roll my eyes in response.

“He didn’t actually kidnap Rose, Ellie. If he did, she wouldn’t be sitting with us right now,” Nick said before I could.

“Oh,” Ellie breathed out and leaned back against the headboard from my bed.

I shook my head and turned back to face my closet, trying to find an outfit that I could wear today. Ellie and I had made plans to go for shopping this afternoon.

“Are you gonna join us, Nick?” I asked, changing the subject.

“And spend my whole afternoon to advise which dress looks better on you? I would love to,” he said with fake enthusiasm before he made a gagging sound.

I heard a thud, followed by a groan and turned around the see that Ellie had hit Nick with one of my pillows. Ellie stood on her knees on the mattress, slightly bending forward so she could glare down at Nick, who was now lying with his back on the mattress.

“You two remind me of my two little brothers,” I mumble while I turned back around to face my closet once again. I picked out my favorite black shorts with a turquoise blouse without sleeves. It was simple, so I liked it.

“And what makes you remind us of them?” Ellie asked. I turn around to face her after I’ve closed my closet. Her eyebrows are knitted together as she looks at me, still holding onto the pillow.

“Just by the way how you two are acting,” I shrugged my shoulders before I walk out of my bedroom and cross the hallway to walk inside the bathroom.

For some it might be a shocker that we don’t have a house with en-suit bathrooms, but I don’t mind. Actually, my parents do have a bathroom attached to their bedroom, but that’s because their bedroom is downstairs while my two brothers and I sleep upstairs. The house is big enough for the five of us and I rather live here than in a mansion where you can easily get lost just by looking for the lavatory.

After getting dressed and brushing my teeth and hair, I walk out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. I had to hold back a sigh as I saw that Nick and Ellie were having one of their arguments again. Crossing my arms over my chest, I lean against the doorframe to see my two best friends bickering while using their arms to ‘put more power to their words’.

I know, my friends are weird. But so am I.

“Are you guys done now?” I ask quickly between one of their brief pauses to fill their lungs with oxygen before they start again.

“I’m done,” Ellie answers me, her eyes turning to me as she jumps of my bed. The smile that comes to her face makes it almost hard to believe she was just arguing just a second ago. But that is just her way to show that it wasn’t serious and she has already forgotten what it was about.

“Right,” Nick drags out the word before he slowly lets out a sigh, shaking his head a little.
