CHAPTER 2X01

i. Mountain Men

White. There was white everywhere.

It hurt physically to even try to open her eyes, but Clarissa forced herself to sit up. She had to blink repeatedly to adjust her eyes to all the brightness in the room. It was all a blurry mess in her head, and once she looked down she panicked.

Clarissa wasn't wearing her bloody clothes anymore, she was unprotected. Yes, everything around her was soft - the bed, the cleanliness, no pain - but that was unknown territory. It didn't make her feel safe like it should.

The last thing she remembered was Clarke telling her to stay inside, she knew her sister had stepped forward to open the dropship door so Clarissa wouldn't have to see firsthand how many lifes she had took - and if Bellamy and Finn had been one of them. But then Clarke never came back, none of Clarissa's people did. They were all gone.

She had stayed with Raven, she couldn't go look for them and leave Raven behind. The girl was dying, and she couldn't lose anyone else.

"Raven, drink this."

Raven leaned a little with Clary's help and took a sip. "Tell me Dr. Griffin, what are my chances?"

"You're gonna be ok."

"Stop lying, Clarissa." The mechanic pleaded. "Why are you helping me?"

"Because we're friends." Clary answered, looking away from Raven's painful expression.

"I kissed Bellamy, I seduced him... I -."

"It's ok!" Clarissa shouted, the sudden mention of Bellamy driving her off. She sighed regretting the way her voice had raised. "Ah... I'll go look for more herbs, ok? We can't run out of them."

"You should go look for them, Clary." Raven told her. "I'm just a dead weight."

"You are not a dead weight, do you hear me, Raven? I won't leave you behind."

Next thing Clarissa remembered was walking through the woods, the herbs already in her hand. She was ready to go back to Raven, when smoke suddenly wrapped her body in a hard sleep. And then she woke up here all alone.

Clarissa ripped the IV out of her arm, she didn't want whatever they were giving her. She stood up from the bed, the camera moving as she did. She knew someone was watching, but she still tried the door handle - it was worth the shot.

The big warning in front of Clarissa's room triggered her, it was written Mount Weather in big letters. She remembered Octavia warning them about the Mountain men being angry. Well, now she was angry too.
