They never noticed

It Started with a note in the bottom of  a box. A box filled with pictures from birthdays, family gatherings, Christmas, vacation.
Under the note was two blades... one small, and the other large.

It made perfect sense to put it in such a box.
The happiest memories can kill. Memories can easily turn to bad memories.
All it takes is one wrong action to change everything forever.

Those were the type of memories that you couldn't help but think about, although they're painful.  You smile at the thought of them but it soon turns into a pained smile.

You remember how happy the family was, how peaceful everything was. The genuine love between all of them.

Then someone breaks everything, all the happy moments.

the lively chatter at dinner is replaced with awkward silence and a empty chair.
The once joyful vibes turn dark and depressing.
The people you'd run to for help are now the reason why you need help.
The kind, tender, caring hands turn violent.
The kind, loving words, become full of anger, hatred, anxiety.
The people you once called family, grow apart from you. They curse your every action.

They turned on each other because they were hurt and looking for someone to blame.

But the person to blame is nowhere to be seen.
They left and never came back home.

I wonder if they ever regret their decision.
I wonder if they realize what their actions did.
I wonder if they realize how much they destroyed their family.
I wonder if they realize they left a once happy, joyful, daughter behind.
I wonder if they realize how much they broke her.

Lost, confused, hurt. Hurt beyond words.
Wondering why their once happy family, is now holding knives to each other's throats.

The grownups were too concerned about their own little problems to stop and look at the little one.
They were too busy to notice her falter in every step she took.
They never notice her skipping meals.
They didn't notice her tear stained face.
They didn't notice her cry for help.
They didn't notice her long sleeves in the summer.

They didn't notice the note in the box was her final cry for help.

They didn't notice....

Not until it was too late.
