Dead Blood Episode 8 - A New Beginning

Chapter 1 - Fresh Start

Two Years Post War...
"Cam I'm going to school!" Lizzie shouted as Cam heard the down slam,
"How old is she now?" Abi asked Cam,
"We've all lost count of ourselves now, she must be about eighteen now" Cam replied,
"Due her first alcoholic drink then surely" Abi teased,
"She has no interest with that, she just seems to want to learn and help the community" Cam told her,
"Sounds like you in a nutshell" Abi said, Cam smiled,
"Anyway back to this how are you and Izzie getting on at Olympus?" Cam asked,
"Izzie seems to be running the place well, you picked a good leader, everyone's got a job to do and they're on weekly survival training" Abi replied,
"Good to hear it I will visit soon once we have some new people arrive" Cam assured her,
"I'll let her know to expect you soon then" Abi said and she got up and left Cam's house. Cam got up and went to the bathroom to shower being still in his nightwear when Abi called. He put his hand on the mirror above the sink and looked at himself, his beard was neat and his hair was cut fairly short with a styled top.

Ginny arrived back at the compound from a supply run after two days,
"How'd it go?" Sam asked her,
"It was successful turns out that mall Cam suggested was full of food and we got a few newcomers so I'll take them to Cam straight away, give him something to do" Ginny replied,
"Yeah he needs to get out of here for a bit, it's been a while since we've had new people, how's it going with you and Cam by the way?" He asked,
"He doesn't look at me at all the only person he seems to how his love to now is Lizzie, obviously she's like a younger sister to him and he'll die before he lets something happen to her but he loved me I know he did but for some reason it just disappeared once the war ended" Ginny replied,
"If you want my full honesty I've watched Cam the last couple of years and I can see he's trying not to get close to anyone, I think he's tired of losing people he's learned to love, I know he still cares about everyone deep down that part of him is still there but I think he's seeing these two years a break after fighting for through the later parts of his childhood." Sam told her, she nodded and then took the new group to Cam.

"Cam they're new figured you might want them for Olympus" Ginny told him,
"Thank you Ginny" Cam replied as he sat down at a table, she smiled and left the house. Cam stared at each and every one of them,
"Take a Seat" Cam said as he smiled at them, none of them moved,
"Cautious I like that, then place stay standing if that's what you want, I just want to ask a few questions and answer any questions you may have about this place or me" Cam told them,
"You seem quite chilled for a man who I've been told has lost everything, why?" One of them asked, Cam paused for a second took a deep breath and reached into his pocket, he got out some photos, there was a picture of Olympus straight after the war, a picture of the hospital in ruins, and then himself and Lizzie outside the compound after the war. Cam began to explain them all about the war and what has happened after, he then explained how everything he does now is to make Lizzie's life more better and everyone who lost their life's to have had a purpose. They all went very quiet,
"What are your names?" Cam asked them,
"I'm Sarah, Anna, Lewis, Harry and Rob" Sarah replied as she pointed at everyone,
"You as a group, been through a lot?' Cam asked very quickly,
"Since the start we've lost people but that's only made us a stronger" Sarah told him,
"And are you the leader?" Cam asked her individually,
"No we've always survived as a group no leadership just teamwork" she replied,
"Interesting, out of every group I've come across there's always been a leader, you all seem like you've been out there a while and you never ran into trouble?" Cam Asked,
"We've avoided it, jab you ever considered that there's only trouble if you make it trouble?" Sarah asked him,
"What do you mean?" Cam questioned,
"Well what if you just followed Jordan's rules to start with then there wouldn't be trouble." Sarah told him,
"But look at what my people have become can you not see it being a good thing?" Cam asked her,
"People died when they didn't have to that's all I can see" Sarah replied,
"And I will never forget every single person who lost their life before and during the war, I lost my almost everyone that mattered to me" Cam told her,
"Are you not tired of people dying all the time?" Sarah asked him,
"Yes people die that's what happens in this life but we've tried to lower the frequency of that" Cam replied,
"Sorry to break little debate but I'm really tired and hungry, can we be part of what you're building here Cam?" Lewis asked,
"You all seem like genuine people and I have just the community and it has some space, Olympus" Cam told them,
"Where to?" Sarah asked him,
"I will take you guys there, I need to prepare my horse and then we'll all go for now there's food in the center make yourself at home here for an hour" Cam replied and he got up and showed them out.

Cam put on his clothes ready to go to Olympus, he wore Grey jeans and a white shirt he put on his belt which held his revolver and machete. He left the house with a smile.
"Back before sundown?" Sam asked,
"Yeah" Cam said as he put his hand on Sams shoulder.

Cam has got them half the journey before he got off his horse,
"What is it?" Sarah asked,
"That" cam said as he pointed at a corpse, it was fresh but it had a cross on its head as if it had been carved into the skull,
"It hasn't turned" Sarah told Cam,
"That's what I was thinking" Cam said. Cam looked around but could see nothing,
"Keep an eye out" Cam said as he got back on his horse.

Cam got off his horse at the gate of Olympus and it opened,
"Wasn't expecting you this quickly after Abi" Izzie said,
"You know me I don't hang around" Cam told her,
"Some new ones could do with some fresh faces round here" Izzie told Cam as she looked at them,
"Make sure they're settled and I'll pop back in a couple of days to see how they're doing" Cam told Izzie,
"You going to mention what we saw or shall I?" Sarah whispered to him,
"Keep it to yourself if you could and if I don't find anything new in two days I'll let the communities know, they don't need to be worrying over things that might not be anything to worry about" Cam told Sarah,
"Fine" she said and she followed her group inside.

On the way back to the compound Cam stopped at Michaels' Group,
"Come to see him?" Michael asked,
"There's that but also I found something weird on the way to Olympus I want to show you" Cam replied,
"I'll get ready whilst you speak to him then we'll head out" Michael told him.
Cam walked down some stairs to the basement of what was the old Soulless base, he grabbed a chair and sat down in it it front of a jail cell, there he was still inside rotting away, hair hanging down to his shoulders and a thick bushy beard.
"It's been a while since we've had one of these talks" Cam said,
"Was beginning to miss you" Jordan said,
"Just forgot I still kept you alive" Cam told him,
"How's your pretty world going up there without me?" Jordan asked,
"Everyone up there is surviving with no threats" Cam replied,
"So when do I get to see it, u thought that was the whole reason of me staying alive?" Jordan asked,
"You reason you're in there is to rot you are an example to everyone of the past and what can't be like ever again, that's why you're still alive" Cam explained,
"You know how I see it, I see it as you didn't have the balls to kill me even after what I've done, what I did that moment, I shot your friend three times and you still didn't build up the courage to shoot me, coward" Jordan said and he laughed but began coughing straight after,
"You keep on telling yourself that" Cam told him and he walked back up the stairs.
"What's he like?" Michael asked,
"Same as usual cocky bastard, have you never been down there?" Cam asked Michael,
"Cam you know my opinion, the piece of shit should be dead for what he's done, but I'm respecting your decision as we never would have beaten him without you, saying that if he ever gets out and kills anyone that bloods on your hands, just warning you" Michael replied,
"Everyone has their opinion but I understand that he's my responsibility and as soon as the prison cells are redone at the compound I will have him over there so I can keep charge of him I promise" Cam assured him. Cam and Michael got on their horses and Cam showed Michael where the corpse was.

Once they got there Michael got straight off his horse,
"What the fuck" Michael said shockingly,
"Messed up right, but who would do this?" Cam asked,
"Someone trying to leave a message" Michael replied...
