Light In The Shadow

Chapter One

It's 7 o'clock. Another day, another living nightmare. But I got used to it. It's been like that since my 8 years old. I got to wake up but I don't want to. I doen't want to live that nighmare another time. I had enough. All I got to do is to hope it will get better this day, but I kno inside of me that there's no hope.

Someone is knocking at my door. I knows who is it. I don't answer. A voice pierces the door of my room.

- Hey ! Wake up !

I still doesn't want to answer. This time after knocking a multiple times my door, this person opens it and enter in my bedroom. I suddenly get a slap behind my head, I gets up abruptly and see the face of that person. It's my aunt, Katherine. That aunt that I hate so much because she mistreated me so much. my aunt Katherine also knows what her husband does to me and for her, I deserve it.

-Hey ! You don't have to slap me ! I was about to wake up !

- Well you got to wake up earlier, you little brat !. Your breaksfast is ready. Go down !

She left her bedroom by slamming the door. I know by now that nothing will change and that I got to live a nightmare for another day. I go to the bathroom, wash myself and get dressed with a simple white t-shirt and a black shirt. I attach my hair and looks at myself in the mirror.

- Well... Ready for a new nightmare day...
- Olivia ! Bring your ass here !
- I'm coming...

I go down and go to the kitchen where my aunt and uncle are waiting for me. I sit and begin to eat my pancakes while my uncle is looking at me.

- What ?
- Nothing...
- How dare you to talk to John like that ?
- I was just asking why is he looking at me like that

Katherine approaches me and gives me a big slap on me face. My cheek turns red. I put my hand in my cheek while a tear dropped from my eye.

- John is going to take you to high school

I tried to replied but I know I will get another slap in my face. All I can do is to silently acquiese. I take her bag and me and my uncle go out and take his car. I am feeling extremely uncomfortable so I tell nothing during all the way to my high school.

I am finally arrived to my high school. Even if I know that I will live a nightmare in my high school but it's still better than stay with my uncle.

- Have a good day... sweetie..

John said while trying to put his hand on my hair but I dodge it and simply said "goodbye" while leaving the car. I am looking for my best friend, Julia by my eyes and finally saw her showing signs to me.

- Hey Oli' ! How are you ?
- Mmh I am good for living another nightmare day !
- I hope it will be better today... Don't worry, you know I'm here for you right ?
- Yeah I know... Thank you Julia
- Come on ! You can smile better than that !

I am looking at her and telling to myself how done I am with her but I love her and she is my only friend so I try and make a bigger smile.

- Haha look how ugly you are !

I am looking behind me and saw that blonde girl who are making my life at high school a nightmare. Her name is Alison. She is the captain of the pom pom girls group and she is, of course, the most popular girl of Northwood High School. Yeah, it's really strange that a girl like her can be so popular, but we guess people love tyrannical people, right ?.

- Don't listen to her, you are beautiful ! Come on we are going to be late for maths class !
- Aaah I hate maths...
- I know ! You hate everything ! Come on !

The bell rings and it's time for me and Julia to go to class. "Let's go for a hell of a day..." I whisper to myself.
