Okay, so this is pretty short too.  But the next one is gonna be really long.  So yeah.  I feel really bad for this, but I needed her to feel bad about somethingso this is what she's gonna be sorry about.  Among other things.

Gaara seems to slump at my words.

"Don't call me that. Gaara. That's my name. Just call me Gaara."

I turn my head towards him.

"Very well, Gaara. If that is what you wish."

He blinks almost painfully before walking closer.

"I'm sorry I sent you away. That I hurt you. That I didn't appreciate you."

I close my eyes.

"Hmm, it's fine. I don't really mind."

I hear him kneel so his mouth is next to my ear.

"But I do. I can't redo the past. It's set in stone. But I'd like to make up for it in the future."

My eyes open, and I glance at him.

"I heard you talking with Nai."

My nose twitches.

"Okay."

He frowns slightly.

"Is that alright?"

Nodding, I close my eyes again.

"Is it... is it true? What you said?"

The hesitance in his voice is almost frightening, how unlike him it is.

"Well, yes. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't."

He puts his head on the bed, next to my shoulder.

"And I punished you. This whole time. I'm so sorry. So, so sorry."

I push my fingers through his hair, staring at the ceiling.

"I know you are. But I've already forgiven you. So you don't need to be."

Gaara looks up and I glance at him.

"I love you. I don't need an apology. I love you, and love means forgiveness."

He opens his mouth, but I interrupt.

"I know you don't love me, and that's alright. But I'd like it if I could sleep now."

He stands up, but doesn't walk away.

"I don't know how to say this. I want to make up for the past, because I care about you."

I nod.

"I know. But you don't care the same way I do. Can I please sleep now?"

He lowers his head.

"Yes. I'm sorry I kept you up."

And he leaves, shutting the door behind him.

Once he's gone, I don't cry.

I feel like it, but I won't cry over someone else's feelings.

That would be useless.

It's better this way, anyway.

We wouldn't be able to have a normal relationship.

He has Shukaku, and I'm The Neko.

With that thought, I sleep.

I have horrible nightmares, but I don't know what they're about.

All I see is moving shadows, but for some reason I'm afraid.

They start to pour into my mouth, entering my lungs.

I try to pull them out, but my fingers pass right through them.

About the time I start choking is when I'm shaken awake.
