This story has torture.  As a matter of fact, it's a major part of the story.  Don't come crying to me saying I didn't warn you.  This chapter's image was made by SephyraCrescent!  Fair warning, after years of seeing people say rude things about the art: rude comments about art get deleted.  It's disrespectful and catty, I've had about enough.  These people are working hard and improving a skill, and to talk shit about them like that is disgustingly ugly.  I am this close to blocking people over it; If you want to be able to comment at all, you critique my fucking work, not the art.

I wake up on the streets of Suna, in my alley.

I stand up and dust off my knees.

My black ears and tail start to get feeling again.

I walk away, hiding in my tattered clothes.

Without a job, I have no money to buy more.

I walk around the village, keeping my ears tight against my scull and my tail down.

There's a brown-haired girl watching me, and I smile at her.

She sneers and I look down.

The scars on my hands ache, the other ones are surprisingly unpainful.

Another girl, blonde, bumps into me.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to touch you, please don't cut me." I whimper softly.

"Why would I cut you?"

"My apologies miss.  I didn't mean to offend." I say softly, disappearing into the crowd.

I never yell.

The villagers get mad at me if I do.

Opting for the dunes, I turn to less occupied streets.

I go wherever I want, no one would touch me, the neko girl, as a quick fix to their hunger.

A man comes up to me as I just see the sand dunes start.

"Ah, little kitty!  You look healthy!  We'll just have to change that, won't we?"

I do nothing, but nod.

He hammers four stakes into the ground, then ties me to them.

Whoever he is gets out a kunai, making sure that I'll feel everything.

He starts on my stomach, making a spiral of blood.

He weaves designs on my face, and my legs.

He grabs my tail, and skins part of it off.

Tearing my ears to ribbons, he plunges the kunai into my gut and leaves me to die.

They will, however, touch me to torture me.

I'm in the less traveled part of town, no one, even if someone cared, would be able to find me.

I gaze into the sky.

It's starting to get dark, and the stars are out.

That must have taken a few hours, though it only seemed like minutes.

I suppose watching the stars won't be the worst way to die.

They're so pretty.

They remind me of diamonds catching the light.

I think I used to have a diamond necklace, I can't remember anymore.

The moonlight shines on my black hair and I sigh.

The only way this could be better is if I were in the dunes.

But I don't mind.

I sit there for three days, gazing at the sky.

I remember being little, and looking at the skies.

That's what I would do all the time, until my family died.

Sun is father, Moon is mother, and the clouds and stars are the siblings.

I have a family in the sky, I just want to have them watch me when I die.

"This is life, this is death, I give my throne to you.

In the sky, at night, when I finally take flight.

With my sisters and brothers I ran, with the herd.

In the sky, when light, as I finally say goodnight."

The stars start to blur, and I shut my eyes, hoping to be rid of the world.
