They Found Me (Avengers- Reader x Bucky)

Just In Time

"Please don't do this, I don't want to work for Hydra, please just let me go."

He starts to walk toward you.

"No....please.....don't!" you scream and slump to the floor head in your hands tears rolling from your eyes.

"Move out of the way Barnes, your scaring the poor girl," a soft female voice says.

The man backs off and the woman kneels down next to you.

"Heyyyy it's alright, we're not Hydra."

You look up to see Black Widow kneeling at your side.

"You need to come with us."

You are still sat on your bathroom floor looking at Black Widow. You can't believe that one of the Avengers was in your apartment telling you, you had to leave with them.

"Hey Steve, come help me get her off the floor," she shouted towards your bedroom.

Seconds later Captain America strides into the bathroom. Both of them grip you under the arm and lift you so you stand. They walk you out to your bedroom stepping over the man that lay unconscious on the floor and sit you on the edge of the bed. You see the man that Natasha had called Barnes studying your room, you notice his left arm shine in the moonlight as he moves around your apartment. The Winter Soldier, you had seen him on the news before usually accompanied by bad reports.

"I know that this is a lot to take in right now," started Natasha, "but you need to gather some clothes and essentials and come with us before more Hydra arrive. We will wait in the front room for you, you have 2 minutes."

You look at her then at Captain America and The Winter Soldier.

"Come on boys let's give her some space," she smiles at you before they all leave towards the front room.

Your thoughts are still scrambled. They must know what I can do, or at least Hydra definitely do. This is everything you didn't want to happen however you run over to your closet grabbing a duffel bag and start filling it with whatever your hands could grab. Better to be with the Avengers than have Hydra take you. You don't stop until the bag is full, you put some trainers on and a black hoodie, not bothering to change out of your sweat pants and tank top. Your old friend swoops back into the room.

"My apologies (y/n)," Corax began.

Before he could say anymore you think to him, "you need to leave they might not know what I do yet, stay close but out of sight."

Without a reply he does as you requested.

You make your way to the living room and see the carnage that lay before you. Everything was destroyed, 3 men lay sprawled out in various positions around the room.
You could see the Avengers better in this light. Your eyes immediately look towards the Winter Soldier, dressed in black, knives and guns strapped to him. Your eyes make your way up to his face not expecting him to be looking back at you. You quickly avert your gaze, but you can't help thinking how his long black hair fell on his face barely showing his ocean blue eyes, his expression stern and focused on his mission.

Steve broke your thoughts, "back ups here and it's not ours."

Being the leader that Steve is he quickly gives out orders, "we need to exit the building now," he runs to the bedroom and looks out to the street below and quickly returns, "there are 5 more Hydra agents making their way into the building up the stairs, Buck you take (y/n) and zip line down to the SUV, Natasha and I will take the stairs."

You look at Steve in disbelief.

"Zip line down the side of the building?! From them the 23rd floor?" you question with your heart now racing again.

Before he had time to answer you hear shouting and gunshots from your living room. Steve quickly deflected it with his shield. Without a seconds thought Bucky grabbed your left arm with his right and you both ran to the bedroom. He took your bag off your shoulder and strapped it around his body. He took out a belt and a hook and placed it around your waist, tightening it enough so it wouldn't slip. He moves you to the balcony and ties a long black rope to the railing pulling on it a couple of times to make sure is secure.

"Are you ready?" he asks.

You nod your head not wanting to show that you are actually terrified of heights and are not ready at all.
The gun shots and fighting had gotten fainter by this point, Natasha and Steve must of pushed Hydra back and we're making their way downstairs.

The Winter Soldier hooks himself up to the rope and then you. He climbs up and balances on the rail facing you, holding out his right hand. You take it and join him on the balcony not once looking down. He wraps his arm around your waist, and without warning jumps the both of you backwards off the ledge holding into the rope with his metal hand you glide gently to the ground.
He let's go of you and starts to unhook you both from the rope.

"See that black SUV across the street?" he asks.

"Yeah" you reply as your trying to breath air back into your lungs from the jump.

"Get in, I'll watch your back."

You did as he said and you headed over to the car and climb in the back seat, you watch him stealthily walk backwards while aiming his gun towards your block of apartments.

As soon as he sees Steve and Natasha exit the building he throws your bag next to you then jumps into the SUVs drivers seat and starts up the engine, he 180s the car and Steve jumps in the passenger seat and Natasha gets in next to you. He speeds off down the street.

You look out the rear window, "I'm not going back home anytime soon am I?" you ask the group.

"I'm afraid not (y/n), it seems Hydra have been targeting you for sometime, I'm just glad we got to you when we did," replies Steve.

"So am i."

You start to stare out of the window as the sun begins to rise. Everyone is silent and in the distance you notice Corax flying above the SUV. You start to drift off to sleep, wondering where you would be when you woke.
