They were all tired.Chiba and Hayami were sitting at one table, their backs at each other. They were disappointed, the plan was thoroughly checked and well thought of... and they ruined their chance. Ritsu explained, Hayami missed. That was what she thought.
However, no one said it aloud.
She didn't only disappoint her classmates and Karasuma, she felt a great burden on her shoulders knowing that she might've disappointed Chiba. Was he fine with it? Are second chances allowed?
Mistakes are made so you can improve.
Despite both of the snipers were given a pep-talk from Koro-sensei when they were hiding behind the seats, Hayami felt greater despair than Chiba. I suppose it was because she misfired twice, but as long as everyone was okay then it was fine. Overnight, she quickly brushed it off.
The next morning, she got to Chiba as quickly as possible.
"Really, you're not the only one at fault." Chiba said it over and over again, until his next statement that made Hayami pause. "I'm glad we somehow missed, otherwise we would've lived our entire life working hard and expecting no trial and error."
"... next time, I won't disappoint you."
