"Talia, blue does not go with bright pink. It just doesnt."

"Well excuse me for trying. You arent doing a very good job either-Wait, " she said as she glanced at my decorations (all 36 of them) and then looked at hers (All 12 of hers).

I laughed. "Like I told you. Since they already decided on a theme, and If i must remind you is Masquarde is the Moonlight, the colors must be elegant and muted."

"How would you know about-" I turned to her sharply. "Nevermind. But its way more colorful!"

"I told you. Masquarde colors are not bright and cheery. They're monotone. Deep maroons, dark purples, suave greens. Grown up colors," I said as I tied more of my maroon and green ribbon together. What happened to the paper decorations? Im tying silky ribbons for a high school dance.

"Oh. I forgot to tell you."

"What?" i said, not bothering to look at her.

"I kinda, well, you know, since you're helping me and everything with the decorations and that counts as a participation/donation for the dance?"

"Yes?"

"I, kinda, sorta put your name on the 'attending' sheet," she said.

Funny thing is, before I could turn around, I heard her run down the stairs.

I on the other hand, was ready to flip a frickin lid.

Calm down, calm down, I said. I didnt work though.

"TALIA!!!" I yelled.

My sister popped out of her room wide eyed. "What. The-? What happened?"

"Talia signed me up for the freakin dance!"

My sister just stared at me. And the burst out laughing. Just laughing. And went back into her room.

Why was this so funny to everyone but ME?

"Listen Sadie, you dont have to attend. I just thought it would be fun if we went together," she said from downstairs.

"Oh dont give me that crappy guilt. You know it doesnt work!"

"Would you at least come look at dresses with me? Since Im going I have to have a dress!"

"Why are you even going Talia?" I retorted, coming down the stairs, "Why waste your time and money?"

Have you ever seen two people who love each other and dance? The way they hold each other, the way they kiss, and they way they dance is absolutley magical. Its all worth the while. Trust me. So will you think about it? Just for me," she smiled," if this is going to be you first dance, at least love it like its your last."

I sighed and sat on the couch.

Tomorrow after school at 3, no later, no earlier."

"So are you going to try on dresses?"

"I dont know."

"Oh! You should also look at shoes!"

"Maybe."

"Honey, please send me pictures."

"Ill try."

"Do you even care about this? I mean im not going unless someone askes me," my sister snorted.

"Listen, Im doing this for Talia. Not for me or anyone else," I retorted to my mom and sister. I pulled out an outfit that I thought was suitable (a black hoodie and dark wash jeans) before it was fiercley pulled out of my hands.
