Chapter 11: I Should have been a Lawyer

Lily's P.O.V.

I was gasping for breath.

Why was it so hard to breath?

It was like there was cement in my lungs.

My world was crashing around me.

Nicholas had told me everything.

"Lily," he poked me, "are you alright,"

His voice was quiet and distant.

Eva.

I needed Eva.

"Eva!" I screamed in my thoughts.

He'd killed her.

I couldn't bear the thought.

"Eva please!" I begged.

A moment later, a bright light was in the room.

"What the hell?!" Nicholas exclaimed, pulling me to him.

"What can I help you with dear? Oh!" Eva exclaimed when she saw me.

"Eva, tell me it isn't true," I cried.

"What isn't?"she asked.

"Hunter, Lacey, brainwashing, killing, rape," I rushed, tears streaming down my face.

Eva gave me a pained look.

"You were so happy," she whispered.

She knew.

"What," I whispered.

"I knew, but I couldn't say anything. It's against the rules of the elders. I couldn't tell you until you found your other mate,"

"James and Logan?" I tried.

"Were a product of rape. Hunter brainwashed you to think you enjoyed it," Eva explained.

"Coming back from the castle?"

"Nicholas here treated you like a princess," she assured me.

"But the bruises and skinniness," I frowned.

"Hunter starved you and hit you for a week. The brainwashing switched it so that your anger was with Nicholas," Eva winced.

The last straw.

"And Lacey," I whispered almost silently.

Eva's glow seemed to dim.

"Before you left the castle, Lacey accidentally ingested blood. It brought out her vampire half and made it a bit stronger. Because the brainwashing doesn't work on vampires, the effects began to wear off. She confronted him, and he threatened her. She promised that she'd keep quiet, but he didn't want to risk losing his heirs. He was the one who killed her during the battle," Eva replied honestly.

My heart wrenched in my chest.

My body began to pull.

What was happening?

"Your spirit is about to transport," Eva explained, "you'll come back when your body is ready,"

I nodded then I was gone.

It was just a blank feeling as hundreds of colors flew past.

Hunter.

That's where I was going.

Suddenly, I was back in Hunter's room.

He was hunched over James and logan's cribs.

"I need your mom back. I need a girl to help form alliances with other packs and maybe another boy in case something happens to you two," he grumbled.
