she was married to Stefan then he died. She wanted an new start just wanted to be free she still keeps in contact with her mystic falls friends.
What she needed for this cure was Klaus. He was the only one who made her feel like Caroline made her feel alive.
So she went to New Orleans and once she was there it was not what she expected at all.
