We were all sitting and telling stories, talking about crushes, being ourselves again. For that moment we all forgot about the fact that our friend is possibly dead somewhere, murdered by someone. Then we hear something, coming from upstairs. we have never gone there, the stairs are too rickety to climb and we were to afraid to go up because the floor would probably break. we hear it again. everyone is silent, no one is telling stories, or smiling anymore. There it is again. It sound like footsteps, something like that, but very, very slow. we look at each other, not daring too move or make a sound. Only after a while I realised I wasn't actually breathing, I take quiet shallow breaths. The steps are coming closer now, almost near the stairs. I get off my butt and stand up strait. I am scared but do not dare show it. I silently walk towards the stairs, just one leg in front of the other, one step at a time. Suddenly I find myself in front of the old worn out rickety wooden steps.
The sound of footsteps echos in my mind, Approximately 1 step every 4 seconds, it's all I can focus on. I gather my courage and start up the stairs, the wood creaks under my foot. I look back at my friends and see that they are just as horrified as me. Without thinking I say ''who's there'' I look back at my friends and they are all holding their breaths.
The footsteps stop. It's been over 15 seconds.16.17.18. the footsteps start again but going in the other direction, they are going really fast now. Something is running away. I am all the way up the stairs now. The footsteps are going really fast now. 4 every second. I look around. There is nothing there. The footsteps cease. I walk into one room and am so surprised, I can not believe my eyes.
