Stargazing

one moment in time
one blink with an eye
one warm smile

i was like the moon,
reflecting in the dark
but never shining.

i looked at myself
doubtful and with regret,
full of dreams and filled with hopes.

my heart was beating
fast and slow,
quick and sluggish.

it always wondered
what was wrong?
what was right?

it always thought
am i enough?
could i ever be?

i never understood, what you saw in me
friends and family
and all my loves.

one blink with an eye
one warm smile

i came along a road
i had never walked before
and had never even seen.

i took a path
all on my own
but not alone.

i changed my life
without the great move
or a heartwarming speech.

i just did - 'cause
i knew i wanted
i knew i could.

i decided to be me
for the first time in life
once and for all.

one warm smile

i look back in time
and i do not regret
and i do not doubt.

i give you a smile
you: my smiling self,
smiling back from the mirror.

i now know
how precious my life is,
how precious it'd always been.

i now understand
what you saw in me
and what i am.

i now believe in freedom.
'cause free will made my day,
and freedom made me go my way.

freedom is to be yourself
yourself in every second of life
in every minute of existence

in one moment of time

and in your warm smile.

my world became a shining star
bright and blazing
good and pure.
