Code Name; Nova

-Chapter 2-

It's been a week since my chat with Piper about getting back in the game helping people stopping bad guys. I'm standing in the bank waiting for the line to move, the air is buzzing with some kind of energy for the first time in a long time I can sense it the way I used too.
I look around something is off, seconds after thinking that the doors burst open to reveal a group of robbers with guns.

"Everyone on the floor now" one of them yells.

Naturally we all get on the floor, a young girl is next to me.

"Its ok" I whisper to her.

Her eyes are wide and filling with tears the men move around the room pointing guns in people's faces.

"You" the guy the pistol snaps.

I look up at him, he jerks the gun gesturing for me to stand up. I do.
Something in me changes I clench my fists then throw my hands out the energy fills the room knocking the men with guns to the floor. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders I look at my hands glowing like a nova just like my code name Nova I smile.

"Call the police these men won't be a problem anymore" I say walking to the door.

"Wait! Who are you"? A voice calls after me.

"Nova. I'm Nova" I say over my shoulder.

I jog down the alley and try to fly, I hover then hit the ground. Ok baby steps I walk down the alley back to my apartment I skip down the hall proud of my achivments of the day.
I go inside searching for Piper.

"Piper I did it! I saved people and I used my powers" I call into the house.

She rushes out her room, hair half brushed.

"No way? Are you serious"? She demands hugging me.

"Yes way, it was a bank robbery it was like you said I had to do something" I say feeling giddy.

"I told you so" She laughs.

I'm in my room when I hear Piper gasp run to the living room.

"What's wrong"? I ask scanning the room for danger.

"Look" She says pointing at the TV.

-new hero in New York reports say she is called Nova. Saved a bank full of people this morning where she is those people say thank you-

"Oh my gosh" I breathe sitting heavily on the couch.

What are the odds my first rescue in years and I get on the 6 o'clock news. I guess I better make sure my suit still fits.

"I even tried to fly, I can't yet" I explain curling up on the couch.

"Do you think it's because it's been so long"? Piper wonders.

"I think so, or I just need the right motivation. Either way it's coming back in bits" I add.

We spend the evening chatting about what we might do if my suit doesn't fit and other random things until we go to bed.

~morning~

Today I'm working on my abilities and flying I suit up and quickly write a note for Piper. As quietly as I can sneak out of the apartment I jog down the stairs and out into the alley.
I start simple working on trying to hover in place for 5 minutes at a time. Alright time to push it, I bend my knees and push up as hard as I can. I open my eyes and I'm way above the ground.

"Oh yeah" I laugh out loud.

I twist and float along on my back simply feeling the air moving through my hair as I go. *thud* something slammed into me or did I hit something I'm falling out of the sky.

"I got you" a voice calls to me.

Then there are arms around me and I'm not falling. The arms are cold like metal? Wait metal. No way Iron man.

"Iron man"? I ask keeping an arm around his shoulders.

"You know another man with a suit like this" He asks, he sounds like he's smiling.

I shake my head, a little too starstruck to speak.

"You must be Nova" He asks as we fly over the city.

I nod.

"Very nice to meet you" He says.

Before I know it he's slowing down and getting lower. Oh my gosh it's Stark tower where the Avengers live no way. All the things I've seen this takes the top spot, I relax a little my boots touch the ground.

"We thought it would be a good idea to meet the new hero on the block" Tony says as his armour is disassembled.

"Really" I ask honestly surprised.

"Yeah" He chuckles.

Then it hits me, did I hit him while I was flying.

"Uh did I hit you up there? Because if I did I am so sorry I'm rusty using my powers" I say quickly.

"No, I hit you actually. Never fly and text" He says rubbing the back of his neck.

"Oh" I say nodding.

He leads me inside, this place is amazing on the inside too.

"Jarvis get everyone down here we have a guest" Tony calls to his computer.

In a matter of minutes the rest of the Avengers minus Thor have gathered in the common room.

"Tony? Jarvis said we had a guest" Hawkeye asks.

"Yes Clint, I accidentally flew into Nova here while she was minding her own business" Tony explains sounding slightly embarrassed about hitting me.

"Hello" I smile at them.

I get introduced to each one of them.

"How is it we've never heard of you" Captain America asks leaning on the table we are all sitting at.

"Oh well I've been out of the game for a while, but I couldn't sit back and do nothing anymore" I say to him.

"You said before you were rusty using your powers" Tony adds also leaning in.

"Yeah. It's been a while since I've used my powers so I have to kind of re train myself how to use them again" I explain, glancing between Tony and Captain America.

"What are your powers" Hawkeye asks.

"They call me Nova for a reason" I say.

I get up and focus on the cup in front of the archer and wrap it in energy it always looks like a super nova.

"Oh that is sweet" Hawkeye grins.

"And she can fly" Tony offers.

"Sorta" I say looking at the floor.

I can feel their concerned gazes on me.

"What is it" Black Widow asks, speaking for the first time.

"I used to be able to fly as easy as thinking about it. But now I can't do it with out a lot of effort and concentration. It takes a lot out of me" I sigh feeling so small in front of them.

A heavy quiet falls over the room, unspoken questions floating around the room, along with small nods.

"We could help you" Captain America says.

Did not see that coming.

"Really"? I ask.

They all nod.

"That would be amazing. Thank you so much all of you" I say to them.

"Your welcome Nova" Captain America nods.
