because of my permanent hearing loss from

edit: since im a really bad author and I never really explained it and for those who know about cochlear implants,
"Cochlear implants cannot help when deafness is caused by the injury or absence of the auditory nerves" which can be damaged my trauma (head injuries)
in this case, donghyuck lost his auditory nerves from getting hit in the head with a bat
