A chilly wind blew through the bars of the cold, damp cell she was forced to reside. Her ankles and wrists were chained and bound to blood covered stone walls. They would jingle and jangle when she moved. Every time she did the sound would echo in her ears, and it made her nervous for she believed it would awaken her master. If that were to happen, she would be tortured. Rue had only been a slave to Aku Soruto for four and a half months, but she was quick to learn how things worked in her new "Home."

If she did not behave then she would be met with the whip. That was the last thing she wanted.

She looked up to try and see the night through her window. Only to be met with nothing, as if the night did not want to meet her eyes. "Not even the stars will love me. I thought that maybe, father and mother would be up there." her sad whisper danced in her cell as she pulled her knees to her chest, resting her face between the crevice of her legs. How cold it was in her cell, the damp floor covered from the previous days rain had soaked through her rags. She shivered from the cold, but soon began to tremble in fear when she heard the door to the dungeon creak open. Light from the hall spilled out and illuminated the room. She could now see the other slaves chained in their cells. Most of them laid there seemingly dead, and they most likely were. She could hear the sound of leather being twisted and footsteps moving towards her cell.

No...

Rue held her head as a large shadow fell over her, it's white eyes narrowing and is mouth contorting into a wicked grin.

No!

"Hello pet. I couldn't sleep and got bored, Let's play~" she felt a sharp pain rake across her stomach and she screamed. Holding onto her bleeding stomach she looked up and locked eyes with her master, Aku. In his hands he held a leather whip and his expression was that of a sadistic pleasure. "Oh how I love to hear you scream! It's like a beautiful melody. Sing for me more, your song of screams!" he brought the whip down harder ripping open the flesh on her back. She screamed once more, her wails twisting around in a struggling dance to escape his laughter. This continued throughout the night.

Seven years later

Rue stumbled along the dusty road next to a red wooden carriage. She was tired and thirsty, but she could not stop, nor could she ask for water. Her masters were on a trip to The Land of Fire, as they were summoned by the Hokage for reasons she did not know. She knew one thing, and that was her role on the journey. It was to protect her masters lives until her dying breath, for her life had no other purpose but to serve them.

Rue looked up at the sky. It was so happy with its bright sun which said "Hello" and the soft blue color of the sky that told her, "Don't worry, everything is fine." Of course it was only for a moment that she believed everything was fine, until she was brought back into the harsh, cruel reality of her life by the lash of Aku's whip on her skin. Rue flinched and looked towards her master, finding that she had fallen behind the carriage. She quickly made her way back to its side and kept her head down, ignoring the blood trailing down her arm as they continued along the road. Aku screeching in her ears about how she was the most useless and stupid girl In the world. Once he was done, he sat there in silence stewing in his anger.

Rue wondered why he wasn't stopping to beat her, as that was his favorite thing to do, when she saw the Gates of Kahona and realized that he was forcing himself not to do anything. This confused her as being beaten in public was never a problem before. Perhaps there was a rule of some sort she didn't know of. As they got closer, two men stepped out from behind the gate and stood there with their arms crossed. Looks of composer and calm resting on their faces. The carriage slowly came to a stop with Rue stopping just an inch behind it. One of the guards straightened up and spoke in a Firm tone. "This is the gate leading into Kahona. Please state your business." One of the two other slaves that was with them, Koji, opened the door to the carriage and got down on her hands and knees, the elder master stepping down on her back and to the ground. The elder masker was Aku's father, Ryu Soruto. Ryu was just an older version of Aku. Long red hair, save for the few streaks of white from old age, gold eyes, expensive clothing and a personal hand-crafted scimitar hanging at his side. "I am Ryu Soruto. My son and I were summoned here by the Hokage for an important business meeting. I would like to ask that you kindly let us through and escort us to Hokage Tower. If needed I have a document here that was sent by the Hokage himself." Ryu reached into his robes and pulled out a small scroll tied together by a golden string. One of the guards marched forward and took the scroll. He carefully opened it and read it thoroughly, his eyes moving back and forth along the words etched into the parchment. He let out a sigh and closed the scroll, turning back to look at his comrade. "Izumo, looks like this guys telling the truth. I'll take them to the Hokage, you stay here and make sure that there's no...funny business, that follows." Izumo nodded moving out of the way. "Sure thing. Kotetsu, don't forget to pick up our special item on your way back." Kotetsu nodded and turned back to Ryu handing him the scroll. "Please follow me, Sir Soruto." Ryu nodded and hopped back into the carriage, Koji closing the door and moving back to her place an inch away from the carriage. Kotetsu walked ahead and motioned for them to follow. The driver flicking the reigns and making the horses move forward in a slow walk. Rue and Koji followed, the chains around their ankles dragged across the dirt, rattling and creaking from rust.
