Don't Get on Buses With Random Serpentine, Kids- How DeJa Vu

Start from the beginning

He brought a hand up, placed it on your jawbone as he drew back from you.

He looked into your eyes, "I love you," he kissed you on the forehead, then tilted your head up and brushed his lips across yours, "I'm so so sorry," his voice was a rasp of a whisper.

"No, wait. I love you too- but please tell me what's wrong," you begged.

You grabbed for him as he pulled away completely, his arms slipping from your grasp.

Your breathing came ragged as you looked around, "What's going on!? Pythor!"

He turned away from you, closing his eyes.

Skales slithered up to you, but his gaze stayed low, "You can still call thisss off. Last chance. With the staff it'll probably be permanent."

It took you a second to realize that he was talking to Pythor.

Pythor said nothing, his breathing shivering his chest.

"Call what off?!" you looked between them, "Pythor!"

"Skales, what's happening!?" you turned to him, but was met with the sight of the Hypnobrai staff before you.

He said something a red swirl flashed and-

. . .

. . .

. . .

You blinked wildly. Why did so much of you hurt so bad?

You looked up.

A Hypnobrai was standing in front of you! And the General none the less! If he held the staff he had to be!

Star-struck, you sputtered something in common before switching to Serpentine, covering and uncovering your eyes in salute, "Gen- General of the Hy-"

How had you gotten from the bus to standing before a General?

You noticed a flash of color, a magnificent Anacondrai slithering away from you, his shoulders trembling wildly.

And beside you a Cobrai infantry helicopter!?

And were you wearing Serpentine clothing!?

You gasped, then realizing how rude your distraction was, you turned back to the General, starting again, but he cut you off.

"You were caught trespassing in the ancient city of Ouroborossss!" he switched to Common, "You are lucky we rescued you before that street gang killed you," he pointed to your injuries.

Street gangs? In the prestigious Ouroboros?

Gang behavior itself was discouraged in favor of general tribe loyalty as well.

You guessed old history didn't pertain to modern times in this case.

You startled, starting in Serpentine again, "Great General, I am so deeply sorry. I'm a researcher of the Serpentine, I have been my whole life, and I only desired the opportunity to observe-" you were distracted once again by the Anacondrai exiting the room, an audible choke coming out of him as he fled out the door.

Why was he crying?

The symbol on the back of his tunic resembled that of Arc-

No, that couldn't be him, he would have had the General's staff.

"How dare you speak the language of our forefatherssss on a human tongue!" the Hynobrai snapped you back to him.

"I'm sorry," you held your hands up, "I'm sorry, I respect the Serpentine and their heritage, I only wish to learn more."
