Sherlock is 6 Mycroft is 12

Sherlock ran straight into his dad's study, barely stopping to knock on the door, "daddy, daddy! Lo-lo-look what I made to-t-day! It's a mikey-fo-fone! Do you like it da-daddy?" He was so proud of his creation, he was out of breath due to running up all of the stairs. His father got up and stood in front of the young boy, towering over the small child. "Sherlock, repeat what you just said". He told his son in a stern voice. Sherlock was confused but said in his childish voice. "I ma-ade a mikeyfone da-daddy".

His father suddenly grabbed the young child by his T-shirt collar and lifted him up. Sherlock shrieked, but his father threw him to the ground. Sherlock was crying and trying to get away, but his father stood on his small chest and yelled "STOP. STUTTERING. it is a stupid, pathetic habit and you will never grow up if you don't stupid it now!" Sherlock was hysterical now, and rolled over, covering his head. At that moment Mycroft ran in. About double the height of his younger brother, he stood in front of the crying child until his father hit him across the face and stormed out. Mycroft dropped to his knees and held Sherlock in his arms. sherlock refused to speak.

Later that evening, Sherlock held onto his brothers hand as they walked down to dinner. "Mikey, what...if....he hears....me speak..ing?" His face was clenched up as he tried to speak without stuttering. Myc comforted him and they took their placed for dinner.

"Sherly, what happened to your face?" His mother enquired, concerned at the bruises and cuts on her youngest son's face.

"Nothing...mom...I just...tripped" sherlock replied, screwing up his face to stop himself from stuttering.

"Darling, why are you speaking like that? Don't worry about your stutter. You'll grow out of it. Just speak like you normally do" at that, Sherlock shook his head violently. "Why not, sweetie?"

sherlock glanced at Mycroft, begging him not to tell. Mycroft mouthed "sorry" at his little brother and screamed, "it's because Dad beat him up because Sherly stuttered. That's why he won't speak, it's because he's scared of father!"

The children were sent to bed and Sherlock lay in Mycrofts arms, stroking Redbeard whilst listening to the shouting downstairs. Later that night, his mom packed three bags and grappled the kids hands.

They never saw their dad again, and they were both glad. For Mycroft, nobody hurt his baby brother and got away with it. Ever.
