Now
"You-You like kittens and cute things, and I - I have killed people! Can't you see that this will never work?! This is-"
Jenelle cut herself short when she saw the expression on the girl's face. Despite all that she had done, she could never bare to hurt her. Ever. What she thought was a cold heart had been tugged by the precious thing in front of her, and how she looked at her. Her eyes tearing up, her nose going smaller at the end as she held back tears, and her bottom lip and chin moving slightly with emotions she couldn't suppress. The girl looked down at the floor in a sign of defeat, a single tear falling due to gravity and landing on the floor with a soft 'thud.'
She put a finger under the crying girl's chin gently and lifted her head up so that she could look at her.
"I can see how impossible it is... But you know what's even more impossible?" Jenelle paused to take it what she was about to say and reassure herself it was the right choice, "I don't even care."
Before
Amara was the kind of girl you hoped to be. She was the type of girl you would look forward to seeing as she would never bore you with sad stories or gossip, she would smile and tell you the best things about her week. She was the kind of eternally positive person you hoped you were like. She never let things get her down, and if they did, she would see the best in the situation and do her best to turn it around.
She spent her life helping others so it was no surprise she worked for a homeless charity. And a cat sanctuary. And an Alzheimer's charity. Minimum wage was enough for her to get by, she didn't live expensively. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. She was a firm believer in the 'a smile at a stranger can touch seven others' and always made sure that she spoke to someone who looked lonely, as she knew that kindness is all a person needs to have their faith in humanity restored.
Amara was a beautiful person on the inside and on the outside. Not the cover girl type, not even a model type. But her positivity showed on her face and made her instantly attractive. She always joked about her being 5 foot 2 and a half, and that the half really made a difference. She was forever changing her hair, but it stayed somewhere between blonde and some crazy colour she decided to dye it.
She was a regular at a coffee bar she used to work in, in central London. Despite not having worked there for 5 years, she came almost every day. The people working there now didn't even work there when she did, but she had all of their numbers and knew them all on a nickname basis. That's the kind of girl she was.
It was a sunny Monday in June that the cafe, The Golden Grain, was overfilled with customers wanting iced tea. Amara, of course, offered to help and delivered coffee to the tables for people. She only ever had the best intentions, but she was a clumsy girl. She couldn't help it. She has jokes about it many times in her life, but she never thought it would get her into the craziest adventure of her life.
She was just delivering an iced tea of some kind (she never knew the names even when she worked there, it was part of the reason why she quit) when she tripped over thin air. The tray stayed firmly in her hands, her feet managed to steady themselves. But the iced tea, however, had a mind of its own and ended up all over a woman sat in front of her. The cafe went quiet for a moment, like in a restaurant when a waiter drops a glass, and then went back to normal.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry! Let me-" she reached forward to the woman, who had turned around. Amara was too busy collecting way too many paper towels to take a look at her, but if she had she would have seen a beautiful woman. She had jet black hair down to her waist, with a natural curl in it. Her eyes were the prettiest green, like a cat, and her lips were full. Her expensive looking dress now had tea all down the front of it, which was the first thing Amara noticed when she turned around. Then she noticed the girl wearing the dress. Her heart did a funny thing but she decided now wasn't the time to melt over a hot girl. Instead she apologized over and over and out some towels on the floor and used some to soak up the liquid on her dress.
