It was my wedding night but huddled up and in tears is not how I imagined I'd spend it. True, I'd known that the marriage consummation was an important and much needed part of my father's marriage treaty but still I'd never imagined my first time would be this way. I'd just laid there in bed while he took his pleasure from me and when he was done he'd gotten up and left me crying alone in the room.
I was devastated and in pain for his mark on my shoulder was very fresh. Eventually I got up and headed to the shower to rinse away the shame at having had my body used and placed aside until further need of it was called. I was a trophy wife now and nothing more. That much had been explained to me already.
Be good and look good. That's all I was to do.
