Chapter 24

Dave POV
It's been a few days since we had to take Kai to the hospital, she's feeling better back to her normal self. I'm going to try and redo me and Liyah's date I really wanted her to be my girlfriend. Shooter was kinda upset that he had set everything up for our date but he understood that Kai was sick. I was cut off by my phone ringing. It was shooter
"GET TO THE HOSPITAL NOW!" He said then hung up. I hopped up real fast. I didn't have to worry about getting kairi ready because her and Liyah was having a girls night with Jamie and Karin. I headed to the hospital once I made it I hopped out and ran in. I seen shooter sitting down with his head in his hand with blood all over him.
"What's going on man? Why you covered in blood?" I asked
"Man it's freaky and Mugga. It ain't looking too good" he said still with his head down
"Man what? What happened?"
I said
"We was leaving out of the corner store in the hood when some niggas rolled up on us and started shooting. We was shooting back until freaky and mugga got hit" He said letting the tears fall.

"Did you see who did it?" I asked
"Nah man everything happened so fast" he said
"They gone be good man. Them my cousins they some fighters" I said putting my head down.
Hours had past and the doctor finally came out.
"Family of malik carter and mark davis"

Me and shooter jumped up and headed towards the doctor.
"Are they okay doc" I asked nervously
"Well Malik was hit in the head and Mark was hit in his chest six times" He said
*idk If that's what happened*
"ARE THEY OKAY!" I yelled
"I'm sorry sir we did all we could. They didn't make it" He said walking off
Once he said that my world came crashing down. Freaky was my first cousin and mugga he wasn't my cousin but I looked at him like he was my cousin I grew up with them. Shooter was standing there still trying to take everything in. I ran out crying and got in my car and sped home. Once I got home I went straight to my room. I just wanted my girl and my daughter home with me. I called Liyah phone.
"Hey baby" she said so happy. This made my heartache. Her freaky and mugga was close They was there for her when she was pregnant with kairi.
"Baby c-can y'all come home" I said with my voice breaking
"Dave why are you crying" she said worried
"I'll tell you when you get here just please come home" I said
"I'm on my way. Stop crying Dave" she said before hanging up

Aaliyah POV
"I'm on my way. Stop crying Dave" I said once I hung up the girls was looking at me.
"Why is he crying?" They asked
"Idk he just keep asking for me and Kai to come home" I said
"Go check on your man girl. We can do this another time" Jamie said
"Okay. I promise to make it up to y'all" I said. I went upstairs to get a sleeping kairi. The girls came up to help me with my bags.
"Call me and let me know everything is okay" Jamie said
"Yeah me too" Karin said pulling me into a hug
I walked down the stairs and went to my car. I made sure Kairi was safe in her seat and got in the front and pulled off towards the house. It was going on 8 at night when I got there all the lights was out I barely could see. I went to Kairi room and place her in her crib since she was still asleep. I went into our room and seen it pitch dark in there.
"Dave" I said. He didn't say nothing so I turned on the lights to see him staring at the ceiling.
"Baby what's wrong" I said walking over to him. I climbed on top of him and seen tears running down his face. I leaned down and hugged him.
"I can't help if you don't tell me what's wrong" I said
"i-it's f-ffreaky and mugga" he said. My heart sunk just by hearing his voice. He sounded so hurt
"What about them baby?" I asked
"Ttthey dddied" he said with more tears coming down I started crying right with him. They was my brothers just as much as shooter is. They was there for through out my whole pregnancy and now Kairi will never know her uncles. I just laid on top of Dave crying he had his arms around my waist just holding me. He flipped us over so her was in between my legs with his head on my chest.
"What am I suppose to do now Liyah?" He said crying even harder
"You do everything for them Kairi and I. They in a better place Dave" I said rubbing his back
"My daughter will never know her uncles. Those boys meant everything to me. They was there for me when I hurt myself in high school, my first heart break, when my mom and dad would piss me off, when I needed somebody to vent too and they was there through your pregnancy while I was being an asshole." He said
"Freaky and mugga will live through us and we'll make sure Kairi know about them. Show her pictures and tell her stories. I have pictures with them while I was big and pregnant. It's okay Dave I'll help you get through this" I said. All of a sudden he jumped up off me scaring me.
DAVE POV
"Dave what are you doing?" Liyah asked I didnt Say nothing I just went to my dresser to get her gifts. I got on one knee and took her hand and pulled out the ring.
"No this isn't a proposal. This is a promise ring. Liyah I've done you wrong since Day one and I'm truly sorry. You're an amazing girl. I promise to be the best man and be the man that you need. I promise to always be there for you and my daughter. You hold me down and you gave me something worth living for. With you helping me through this shows me how real you are. I didn't want to ask you like this I wanted to take you on a date and do all that romantic shit but I feel like this is the right moment so. AALIYAH JAY would you make me the happiest man on earth and be my girlfriend?" I said by now Liyah was crying her eyes out
"Yes I'll be your girlfriend David" she said. I slide the ring on her finger and passionately kissed her lips.
"Go get my daughter I just want y'all to be in my arms right now" I said. She began to walk off until I smacked her ass
"Ouch you asshole." She said rubbing her butt. She went and got Kairi and brought her back in the room. We got into the bed and I guess Kai felt my presence because she snuggled close to me. She always did that when I let her sleep with us.
"Such a daddies girl" Liyah said
"Hater" I said
" so! when are you going to tell your aunties and mama?" She asked
"We will go see them tomorrow. I want you to meet them" I said
"Okay baby. Goodnight" She said kissing kairi cheek then my lips
"Goodnight babies" i said kissing her lips. I pulled Kai on my chest and pulled her mama close to me letting her head lay beside Kai and my hand resting on her ass before falling in a much needed sleep. I love my little family.
