Somebody To You Pt. 2 (Harry Potter)

Start from the beginning

You smiled softly and tipped his head back towards you, "I'm fine. Look, I'm good. This was my decision. You're one of the most important people in my life, and you can't stop that I'm going to keep doing these sort of things for the people I care about."

"I know," he mumbled. "Thank you."

You didn't catch his eyes flickering down towards your lips.

Breaking the moment, you patted his shoulder. "Any time. I'll catch you later! I've got to go meet Elane in the library."

Proudly, you'd been the first signature on Dumbledore's Army. In messy cursive, your name was scrawled out at the top of a huge list of names.

You loved learning all the new spells, and you'd become a quick learner. You even beat Harry a few times, but you had a feeling he'd been going easy. Learning that your Patronus was a Y/P was really exciting. Everyone had become one big family with every meeting in the Room of Requirement.

The battle at the Ministry was the worst, not to mention Voldemort had decided to make a special guest appearance. You'd almost died at least three times, but at the end it didn't matter, because you never actually did. Sirius Black, Harry's only hope to get out of his miserable home and nearly last connection to his family, had. In the destruction of everything, you held each other, and you never wanted to let go.

While you had made it out with only a broken arm, your heart was thoroughly shattered and you were frightened. Your chest tightened at the sound of Harry's crying.

"Thank you for being there for me," he said, wiping the tears from his glasses.

"Always," you assured him. "You're my person."

"What would I do without you?"

"Crash and burn."

He scoffs, and then he's silent for a few moment. Softly, he pulls you in for a slow kiss.

And that was the end of fifth year.

As much as you believed in Harry, you didn't have it in you to hate many people. But even so, you listened to him and his worries about Draco, even though he hadn't given you any troubles over the years.

You liked to assume the best in people, because you don't really know anybody inside and out. It was only when you followed Harry up to the Astronomy Tower, when your outlook shattered.

Swallowing back a squeak, you watched as Draco had a wand pointed at Dumbledore, but the Headmaster was perfectly calm. And then as Draco hesitated, Professor Snape stepped in and did it for him.

Nothing would be the same.

Harry didn't return for seventh year. Not until later when he appeared through a picture frame, searching frantically for a horcrux that was in Hogwarts.

Deflecting hits and leading away Death Eaters from first years, you had gotten separated from all your friends. The next time you saw everyone, Hagrid was carrying Harry's body back towards Hogwarts.

Letting out a strangled cry, Elane grabbed your arm to prevent you from running towards him and probably dying in the process.

"Let me go!" You whirled around, and it took everything in you to not petrify her and sprint away, but you knew she was right. "That's not possible! He's the boy-who-lived!"

Elane knew that your desperate cries would haunt her dreams, as would the sight of all the dead bodies and the screams of her classmates and the sound of rubble hitting the ground. Everything that happened would reverberate throughout her life and never stop echoing.

At the sound of your pain, Harry almost broke his act just so he could stop your hurting. But instead he waited for just the right moment and followed through with his plan.

It wasn't until the very end when you reunited again.

In tears, you whacked him on the shoulder with your wand. "I can't believe you! I thought you were dead! You idiot!"

He smiled sheepishly, "surprise?"

"I thought I'd lost you," you furiously wiped away your tears.

He embraced you. "Never."

You stepped away at arms length. "I don't care. You're not allowed to do that again."

"Okay," he chuckled.

"How are you?" You asked.

His face fell. "We lost so many people..."

"I know," your shoulders drooped. "I'm sorry. I wish there was something I could do."

"Well, I didn't lose you. That's all I need right now. Just you."

You blushed and kissed him softly. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

"Please do not try to die again," you repeated, never wanting to feel that was again.

"Right back at you," he said. "Don't think I don't know you have the tendency to run towards danger when your friends are in need."

"Oh shush, you love that about me."

Smiling, he agreed, "I do."
