Wait...That's Not Right

"PAISLEY?"

"YEAH?"

"CAN YOU COME HERE I NEED SOMETHING."

I didn't hear a response, and I was about to laugh at Vanessa and say "I told you so", but a second later I heard Paisley's door open and she appeared in front of us.

"Yeah?" She asked. I looked at her in disbelief, then at Vanessa. Vanessa smiled at me with a sly look.

"Nothing sweetie. I've got it." Vanessa said. Paisley just shrugged and walked back to her room.

"I...she just-"

"Yup." Vanessa said, popping the p. She smirked and picked up Sebastian, taking him back into the bathroom.

I rolled my eyes, continuing to type my SUPER SECRET project. I can be scary and stuff too...

"Hey Lin, guess what?" Paisley asked, and I already knew what she was going to say because she had only told me about a million times. I shook my head, grinning a little and trying to focus on driving home but Paisley was talking my ear off.

"What Paisley?"

"Today's Tuesday."

"Yes Paisley."

"And Friday is in three days."

"Yes Paisley."

"AND THEN IT'S SUMMER!" Paisley said excitedly. I frowned, pretending to be upset.

"Great, we get to have you around the house all day long now." I joked, causing Paisley to punch my arm. She laughed a little.

"You should be excited. I think I'm a pretty fun person to be around." She smiled.

"Mhm whatever you say kiddo." I said, causing her to punch my arm again. "Hey! Don't punch me! Don't forget I'm the one who made time to pick you up from school today."

"Oh yeah. Thanks for that." Paisley laughed a little, then smiled, thinking of something different. "Guess what else is on Friday?"

"Your school dance with the spawn of Satan?" I asked, and I shrieked when Paisley raised her hand to punch my arm again, but she decided not to.

"I don't understand why you hate Brandon so much." Paisley mumbled, crossing her arms. I shrugged.

"It's not that I don't like him. He's just...he's so easy to make fun of. He needs to toughen up." I laughed, only causing Paisley to roll her eyes. I reached over and ruffled her hair.

"Lin!" She whined, laughing a little. "Don't touch my hair!"

"Oopsies." I shrugged as Paisley tried to make her hair look normal again.

"Speaking of the dance, you're picking me up, so please don't forget." Paisley begged. I chuckled.

"I'm not that forgetful." I said, causing Paisley to give me the classic "boi please" look.

"You forgot my name the first week I came to live with you." Paisley pointed out, then thought for a second. "I kind of think I remember Vanessa telling me you forgot Sebastian's name too, and he's your actual child."

"Okay, so maybe I'm just a tad forgetful."

"A tad?" Paisley questioned, only causing me to roll my eyes.

"Okay, I'm very forgetful, but I promise I won't forget to take you to your dance." I said. Paisley still looked doubtful.

"Pinky promise?" She asked, holding out her pinky. I laughed.

"Yes you dork, I pinky promise." I said, linking pinkies with her. I pulled to the curb and got out of the car, walking into our apartment. My attention was drawn to a note left on the counter.

Working late tonight and Seb's with Jess. You and P are on your own for dinner.

I groaned, plopping next to Paisley who was sitting on the couch on her phone.

"Watcha want for dinner kid? We're on our own." I said. Paisley thought for a minute.

"Um...ooh! Does ice cream count?" She asked. I laughed a little, shaking my head.

"I wish!"

"I don't really know. It's okay, I'm not that hungry anyway." Paisley shrugged. I sighed, standing up and taking her hand, pulling her out of the apartment.

"For the billionth time, you need to eat miel." I argued as I pulled her over to the car. We both got in and Paisley started whining.

"But we just got home."

"But now we're getting food!" I said in a cheery tone. I noticed Paisley frown a little. "We can get ice cream after."

"Really?" Paisley beamed. I nodded, which caused Paisley to have a smile on her face.
