First day of school of eighth grade.
I'm kinda exited. I'm just hoping I don't screw up. Or that I get chosen for that stupid villain thing.
(Read story intro to get what I'm talking about.)
Last year it was 2 ninth graders who got chosen. I'm hoping it won't be me. But with my luck, I probably will.
My three best friends, Alex SouthWorth, Amy Jones and CeCe Jennings, all walked into the gym and we sat together of course. We were getting ready for the assembly that's going to start in a matter of 5 minutes.
Everyone got together, sat with their friends and chatted.
Now, since your going to read, MY story. Know about MY life. And know every single detail, I might as well tell you that we aren't normal humans.
We are Special. We grow up with families, but you grow up knowing that some day you'll find your power.
Everyone had them. But they don't come naturally. You need to FIND your power.
I tried everything to find my power. But there is no luck. That's the reason why they make us defeat that villain thing.
Wether you have powers or not, Every school has a colour. Where I'm from there's only four schools scattered around.
Green: EastHigh (me)
Red: SouthHigh
Yellow: NorthHigh
Blue: WestHigh
We are located differently as you can see.
You are expected to know your power by high school. That's why they do this only when your in high school.
Your not supposed to share your power with ANYONE. Unless, your going to defeat the villain of course.
All I ask is for one more year.
After you are chosen, you have three more days until you leave.
And, yes, you can die.
And I'm NOT. A strong person. Im weak. I can't. I just can't.
And last year, BOTH of the ninth graders that went last year, never returned.
You can also get stuck there. Cause the villain has a right to keep you hostage, or use you as servants.
It's seriously... just torture.
"Hello my fellow students!" my principal, Miss Yuka said.
"Today, is the day! We will start off with the boys." She said. "For the boys, we have Haydon Southworth in ninth grade!"
Southworth... I thought. Isn't that's Alex's last name?
"I need to talk to you after the assembly." She said concerned.
I nodded. There was no way I was getting caught talking during an assembly as important as this.
"For the girls we have..." from that point everything was in slow motion. "Addison..." please don't be my last name. Please don't be my last name. I thought over and over again.
"Holting..." shit! now I might be screwed. I thought. Please don't be my grade, please don't be my grade.
"In..." then everything went back to normal. "Eighth grade."
Alex, Amy and CeCe, all turned to me with worried eyes.
My heart sank. There was no way.
It can't be me.
It can't.
It can't.
It can't.
It can't.
I refused to believe it. But sadly, it was true.
After the assembly Alex and I went in the corner so she could tell me something.
"I know we are best friends and all but there is something I've been keeping from you." She said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Well, that guy that was chosen... he-he was, uh, um... my brother." She stuttered.
"Does CeCe and Amy know about this?"
"Y-Yeah." She said with sad eyes.
"I can't believe you guys would keep this away from me?! I thought we were best friends! best friends tell each other everything!" I shouted.
"We were protecting you!" she shouted back.
"From what?"
"From getting hurt!"
"What's your brother gonna do, huh? murder me?" i asked sarcastically.
"No! He dates my friends an then dumps them! He tells them he loves them, and then he breaks up with them!" she shouted back.
"You know I would never date a friends sibling! you know better then this! How can you think of me so little like this?!" I shouted and walked away.
I walked into the girls bathroom and started to cry. The bell rang for class. But, it wouldn't hurt to skip one class would it?
